Kinji has finally perfected his NEET lifestyle through shrewd money management. However, just when he is able to hang out for the rest of his life, he is transported to another world. There he is immediately shoved into a harsh mining job for a black company that cares only about profits and quotas. However, as the world’s laziest and most clever NEET, Kinji is determined to be a layabout.
I feel like this is more applicable to Japanese audiences who truly understand the realities of black companies, but still, it is an interesting show if only for the main character and his scumbaggery. For Fans of Morally Questionable Main Characters
Konosuba
On his way back from buying a new game, Kazuma Satou died a pathetic death. However, he awakens before the Goddess Aqua who gives him two choices: go to heaven or reincarnate into an actual fantasy world. Naturally, the gamer picks the fantasy world. Now Kazuma must deal with defeating an evil demon king, useless party members, and paying living expenses.
Most obviously, these two series are tied together by being “isekai, but” series. In this case, they are isekai series, but all the characters suck comically. In Konosuba, Kazuma is played as weak, but mentally competent compared to his powerful but mentally incompetent party members. In The Dungeon of Black Company, the main character is smart, but sleazy. His companions, on the other hand, are rather dumb but are used as tools.
Space Dandy
The universe is a vast and strange place, full of even stranger beings. For a man named Dandy, his job is to travel around and register new species for a reward. What should be an easy job is made less so by a series of odd coincidences that happen along the way.
While Space Dandy is distinctly sci-fi, it shares a similar type of protagonist with The Dungeon of Black Company. He is irreverent, sleazy, lazy, and generally a fun character watch have adventures.
Jobless Reincarnation
After being chased out of his NEET nest, a man instinctively saves some teens from an oncoming car and is killed. He is reborn as Rudeus Greyrat, a baby and new firstborn son of a local knight. Finding he has great potential for magic, Rudy vows to make the most of his new life even if he is still a perverted otaku on the inside.
Both series are newer isekai anime that are trying to distinguish themselves from the heaving mass of other generic isekai anime by having a protagonist that is questionable in their morals. Jobless Reincarnaion is more of a standard adventure story, but the protagonist is an adult man in a child’s body, leading to a lewd attitude with everything female.

Combatants Will Be Dispatched
On Earth, the villainous Kisaragi Corporation has finally conquered everything, but they have their eye on the entire universe. Having finally created a transporter, they send agent Roku-gou to the kingdom of Grace where he is to infiltrate and eventually conquer the kingdom for the corporation. Of course, to ensure the success of one of their more disposable agents, they send with him Alice, an exceptional android, to make sure the mission is carried out. Finally arriving, Rou-gou and Alice end up infiltrating the inner circle of the kingdom and helping them secure victory against an invading Demon Lord.
Both Combatants Will Be Dispatched and The Dungeon of Black Company are carried by their flippant protagonists. You have morally questionable, and a bit dumb men working for a corporation and trying to succeed through the path of least resistance.
Shachibato
Long ago a goddess descended to the land of Gatepia. With her, gates opened up around the world to dungeons rich with a mineral used in the world for energy. Following his father’s disappearance in one such dungeon, Minato is urged by his childhood friend Yutoria to become the president of his father’s treasure hunting company.
Both series focus on characters who, unwillingly, end up working for companies. They also end up with a whole crew of characters that aren’t necessarily the most helpful people. Of course, Shachibato does have a plot that it focuses seriously on.
For Fans of A Man and His Fantasy Minions
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
After a run in with a robber, the 37-year-old Satoru is suddenly killed. However, he finds himself able to reincarnate into a fantasy world as a slime named Rimuru Tempest. This allows him a fresh new life of adventure while being surrounded by a number of other unique beings.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one of those “isekai classics” series that is considered a must-watch. Like The Dungeon of Black Company, it crafts a large world filled with a diverse group of characters that all essentially serve the main character for various reasons.
The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter
Noir is the son of a minor noble. He was going to work as a librarian until the son of a higher rank noble took the position. He does have one special advantage – the use of an ability to consult a great sage. However, using it gives him terrible headaches. Discovering a way to lightly calm the headache, he consults the sage on how to move forward. The sage guides him to a secret dungeon where he meets a trapped powerful adventurer. She grants him her powers so that he can gain power and admission to a great adventurer academy.
The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter is distinctly different by being a show that appears to take itself seriously. It is also more of a standard harem. However, if you enjoyed the main character gathering a group of people who are loyal to him for inexplicable reasons, then this show is much the same.
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord
In his MMORPG, Takuma boasts overwhelming strength and was referred to as the demon king. However, one day he gets summoned to another world, still in the appearance of his character. There he discovers two girls that use the same magic he uses to turn others into slaves. However, due to his magic reflect skill, the spell was turned back on them.
While it adopts a more standard isekai plot eventually, both series are initially tied together by being isekai comedies. However, while The Dungeon of Black Company has its moments, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is much more lewd. Still, you get to meet a number of interesting fantasy characters.
