tearmoon empire anime

Tearmoon Empire

As the people rebel against the royal line that lead to famine and suffering, first princess Mia Luna Tearmoon is imprisoned and eventually publicly executed. After her death, Mia wakes up several years prior when she was still just a child.

At first, she thinks it was all just a terrible dream until she finds the blood-spattered diary she kept in her cell next to her. Using the knowledge of the future, Mia seeks to escape her fate by preventing the poor governance and economic strife that is to come. However, tireless efforts are not something this pampered princess is used to or particularly good at.

While 7th Time Loop is on, at the title helpfully says, its seventh time loop, Tearmoon Empire is also a regressor story that starts with a noble girls’ death and loops back to her younger years, allowing her to try and avoid it.

However, while 7th Time Loop allows Rishe to experience many different kinds of lifestyles, and thus hone many different kinds of skills, Tearmoon Empire does things a bit differently. Mia is trying to change events that would lead to her death. She grows as a person only be pretending to be a better one. A good chunk of the series is often about characters around her misunderstanding her motive of self-preservation as motives of intelligence and benevolence.

While 7th Time Loop focuses on romance with distinct hints of reverse harem, Tearmoon Empire is often more comedy-focused. It has a romance, but it is hardly the focus. Instead, it chooses to explore the ways that the main character betters the kingdom as she tries to escape being killed again.

my next life as a villainess anime

My Next Life as a Villainess – All Routes Lead to Doom

At eight years old, Katarina Claes, the only daughter of a duke, hits her head and suddenly remembers she was once a seventeen-year-old otaku that got isekai’d.

She realizes that she is now in the world of Fortune Lover, the otome game that she had been playing before her death.

Unfortunately, she is not the heroine, but rather the villainess who usually ends up dead or exiled at the end. As such, she endeavors to change her fate and avoid all doom flags.

While 7th Time Loop is styled after the otome villainess cliche, it is set in its own world with no mention of it being a game. My Next Life as a Villainess is about a girl isekai’d into the game, but as a younger version of the character who would grow up to be the villainess.

The villainess story aside, both series are about women given a chance to redo their life in order to not meet a grizzly fate later. While 7th Time Loop gave her many other chances first, the story it tells is similar to the story My Next Life as a Villainess is telling – a villainess who is just trying to live a happy and long life.

That said, 7th Time Loop is a romance-focused story with a reverse harem of men she has helped with her skills. My Next Life as a Villainess is less committal. There is no main romance and it is all reverse harem as she helps people with their problems.

For Fans of Otome-Style Villainesses

I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss royal romance anime

I’m The Villainess, So I’m Taming the Final Boss

Being constantly ill, a girl passed her time in the hospital playing otome games. However, one day she wakes up in the world of the game she was playing. What’s more, she wakes up as Aileen Lauren Dautriche, the villainess of the game.

After childhood friend and crown prince Cedric publicly breaks up with her for the game’s protagonist, Aileen makes moves to avoid the tragic future that results in her death.

She decides to propose to Cedric’s half-brother, Demon King Claude who, if left alone, would transform into a dragon and off-handedly kill her in the game.

So begins her quest to tame him.

Both 7th Time Loop and I’m The Villainess, So I’m Taming The Final Boss start with the same otome game-type villainess trope. The prince breaks up with her due to intrigue, and then she starts a romance with a brooding villain type.

Furthermore, both series are actually focused on progressing that main romantic relationship despite the plot building a reverse harem around her as she helps other men with their problems.

Of all the other recommendations, I’m The Villainess, So I’m Taming The Final Boss provides the most similar experience to 7th Time Loop, but it is quite a bit more light-hearted. Its main character is also definitely not as competent at most things unlike Rishe.

The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen anime

The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen – From Villainess to Savior

In the To a Beam of Light With You, the final boss and villainess Pride Royal Ivy committed a number of atrocities against everyone around her to the detriment of her nation.

However, one day a student from Japan wakes up in the body of Pride Royal Ivy when she is eight years old, just after she awakens the power of precognition that gives her the right to inherit the throne.

Not wishing to meet a grisly fate or to see her subjects suffer as they would if she were the villainess, this new Pride uses her knowledge of the game to change events that would lead to suffering in an effort to instead become a benevolent ruler.

While both 7th Time Loop and The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen are anime with otome game-style villainesses as main characters, they have different focuses.

7th Time Loop is playing out a romance while the main character helps other men she had met in previous loops. The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen features an isekai’d main character trying to not become the evil character she was in the game by instead helping the men she otherwise would have tortured. It has no main romance and is all a reverse harem as she makes improvements to her kingdom.

The Reason Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion anime

Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion

After being pushed off a building to her death, office worker Rinko Hanasaki is reborn as Raeliana McMillan, a minor character in a novel she had once read.

While Raeliana is the eldest daughter of a nouveau-rich baron, Rinko knows that her new life isn’t exactly blessed. Having knowledge of Raeliana’s fate in the novel, she knows that her fiancee, Lord Francis Brooks, kills her to kick off the plot of the book for the actual heroine.

Determined not to die, Raeliana makes moves to break her engagement and save her life. This leads her to the mysterious Duke Noah Wynknight, the male love interest in the novel and general manipulator of politics among the nobility. She ends up blackmailing him, threatening to reveal his secrets, if he does not pretend to be her fiancee so she can break things off with Brooks.

However, while this saves her life for now, Raeliana’s relationship with the Duke grows more complicated by the day.

Instead of a story following the otome game villainess archetype like 7th Time Loop, Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion features a main character isekai’d into a novel she enjoyed, not as the villainess or even the main character, but as the woman who dies in the beginning that sparks the story for the main character of the novel.

Both series are set around main characters who are making moves to not die. As such, they end up in a romance with a dark and brooding man who either rules or manipulates a kingdom. The romance in each series is a slow-burning affair. However, while 7th Time Loop usually focuses on helping other characters solve their problems, resulting in a reverse harem sort of situation, Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion is more focused on the intrigue that is happening around her.

sugar apple fairy tale anime

Sugar Apple Fairy Tale

Fairies once lived free alongside humanity until humans discovered that stripping a wing from a fairy means literally holding their life in your hands. Now, fairies are enslaved to humans.

Ann is a young girl aspiring to become a Silver Sugar Master like her late mother was. To further this goal, she sets out to the royal capital, and on this dangerous journey she purchases a warrior fairy named Challe Fen Challe to protect her.

As Ann believes in the freedom and equality of faeries, she buys him and offers to give his wing back when she reaches her destination. However, as they travel, their bond together grows.

Both 7th Time Loop and Sugar Apple Fairy Tale are fantasy romance anime about a nice and fairly capable female main character who starts a romance with a brooding, dark haired mysterious man. However, while 7th Time Loop is focused on nobility, Sugar Apple Fairy Tale is telling a romance between a traveling working class woman and the man she bought to be her bodyguard.

The romance is the focus of each series, but it also is a slow-building relationship as you learn more about the characters and they slowly become more accustomed to each other over the course of their adventures together.

kakuriyo bed and breakfast for spirits anime

Kakuriyo – Bed and Breakfast for Spirits

Since she was a child, Aoi could see spirits. One day, while feeding a hungry spirit, she is whisked off to the hidden realm of spirits where an ogre states she will be his bride.

It seems her grandfather sold her off to marry him in order to satisfy his debt that he accrued at his inn in the spirit world. Instead, Aoi refuses and works off the debt owed in the bed and breakfast as an employee.

As Kakuriyo follows a woman that can talk to spirits being taken to the spirit world, it is a distinctly different setting compared to 7th Time Loop, but it actually has quite a bit in common with 7th Time Loop.

Both series follow a strong and capable female main character that suddenly finds themselves engaged to a quiet man with a menacing reputation. While 7th Time Loop features Rishe agreeing to the marriage in order to go to his kingdom and try to avoid her death, Kakuriyo has the main character more resistant to the relationship and trying to work off the debt that caused it by working at his inn in the spirit world.

These are both very much shoujo romance anime with reverse harem vibes. She helps a variety of men who come to enjoy her, but you see the main romance slowly progressing as she does this.

Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts anime

The Sacrificial Bride and The King of Beasts

After hundreds of years of war between the kingdom of beasts and the neighboring human kingdom, a peace treaty was signed. The conditions of this treaty say that humans must offer a sacrifice to be devoured by the King of Beasts every year on a particular night.

Sariphi is the latest sacrifice to be sent, adopted by her parents to specifically protect their true-born daughter. Despondent after learning that truth and feeling like she has no home to return back to anyway, Sariphi is fine with dying and unafraid of the King of Beasts.

Intrigued by her lack of fear, the King of Beasts begins to grow closer to her, and when the day of sacrifice comes, he defies his advisors and decides to takes this interesting girl as his wife.

Both 7th Time Loop and The Sacrificial Bride and The King of Beasts feature women who are suddenly engaged to royalty who sports a particularly menacing reputation. However, unlike their violent reputation, they prove to be quite kind and are made vulnerable by their dark pasts.

Of course, the glaring difference is that in The Sacrificial Bride and The King of Beasts, the king is a beastman. Furthermore, The Sacrificial Bride and The King of Beasts is actually quite drama-free in the actual romance.

The pair like each other and rarely disagree, avoiding any actual strife between them. Instead, the plot is surrounds the discrimination problem in the beast kingdom, not just over having a new human as a queen, but between the beastpeople races themselves.

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent anime

The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent

Sei, a young office worker, is summoned to a new world. However, the people who summoned her to banish dark magic from the world only meant to summon one person they would call Saint. Instead, they summoned two, and Sei discovers that they actually like the other girl better.

Not really caring about that, she ends up making potions at a research institute using her newfound magic. Unfortunately, while she is unexpectedly talented at her work and happy doing it, she begins to think that she is indeed the Saint.

While The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent is an isekai anime, it follows a mature female protagonist who has the same sort of life experience that Rishe had honed over the course of her many loops. This means both series feature a mature and grounded protagonist that, after a lifetime of stress, just wants to enjoy some peace.

However, while The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent does have a progressing and quite sweet romance plot, that is not its only plot. Sei gets involved in a variety of smaller adventures as she just lives her life.

snow white with the red hair anime

Snow White With The Red Hair

Shirayuki is an herbalist that lives a normal life in the country of Tanbarun. However, when her beautiful red hair is noticed by the Prince Raji, he tries to make her his concubine.

She then decides to cut her hair and flees into the forest. It is there she is rescued by the second Prince of neighboring country, Wistalia, named Zen.

In order to repay her life debt to him, she sets her hopes on becoming the court herbalist in the capital of Clarines.

Like Rishe in 7th Time Loop, Snow White With The Red Hair features a main character that is forced to flee her home country after things go wrong with the prince there. She then goes to a separate nation and starts a romance with the prince of that country as she pursues her own interests.

Essentially, these series are telling the same type of romance except for the prince in Snow White With The Red Hair is more the “nice young man” type and less of a “menacing future warmonger” type.

Regardless, both series tell an interesting story with a slowly progressing romance and plenty of political intrigue.
