After saving some young girls from an attacker, a teen boy died and reincarnated into a world of swords, sorcery, and adventurers. On his third birthday, Cain von Silford, the third son of a noble family remembered his previous life and was determined to make the most of his new one.
However, on his fifth birthday when children traditionally commune with the gods to receive their blessings, he didn’t just receive one blessing, he received blessings from all the gods, and the levels of those blessings were far above what even the most gifted humans received.
With his stats boosted so ridiculously powerful that he has to hide them from everyone, he decides to become an adventurer.
While this series is probably no one’s “favorite anime ever,” I can appreciate the fact that it is doing something that has been done similarly in most isekai anime, but doesn’t take itself very seriously. It lets itself be fun instead of wedging itself into trying to be different, failing, and having just a bland serious plot. For Fans of Reborn Into The Aristocracy
The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat
The greatest assassin on Earth lived only to be a tool by those that wished to wield his mastery. That is, until they decided that he was no longer needed and ended his life.
By the grace of a goddess, this masterful man was reincarnated into a new world where he is asked to kill a hero that will later bring about the end of that world.
Deciding to finally live for himself, this man, now named Lugh Tuatha De, puts his skills as a killer to the test with foes who wield real magic.
Alongside just having obnoxiously, needlessly long titles, Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World and The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World are both about people who were reborn into a new world as the sons of nobility, but still retain their minds and memories of their previous life.
However, what Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World often plays silly, The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World plays completely straight. He is an assassin, born into a noble family of assassins and is a fantastic specimen of a man, he gathers a harem who helps him murder people, and it treats that all like it is some magnificently innovative plot that is completely unlike any other isekai.
If you liked Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World because it was less serious about itself and allowed the adventures to be fun, then The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World is probably not for you. However, if you want a concept similar to Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World, but played out in the standard isekai fashion, then perhaps it is.
Parallel World Pharmacy
After dedicating himself to creating medicines as a pharmacist, Kani Yakutani works himself to death at the age of 31.
He awakens in the form of a ten-year-old boy that has been struck by lightning. He discovers that he is the son of a prestigious family as well the host to the guardian deity of medicine. This allows him to immediately diagnose illnesses in others.
While this is a miraculous ability, he discovers the state of medicine in this world is primitive and takes up his previous profession from his past life as a pharmacist once again.
Both Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World and Parallel World Pharmacy feature people reincarnated into a fantasy world as the children of noble families. Furthermore, they soon discover that they posses magnificent abilities gifted by the gods. While Cain has many abilities from many gods, Falma in Parallel World Pharmacy only has magnificent abilities from one god.
While Parallel World Pharmacy looks like a standard OP protagonist with a harem isekai anime, it actually subverts that by focusing mostly on the main character trying to advance the field of medicine in his world. Both series have a bit of a lighter spin to them, but Parallel World Pharmacy is a bit more focused on its plot.
The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World
In his life as the world’s strongest onmyouji, Haruyoshi only pursued power. However, even his immense power couldn’t stand up to the well-played cunning that saw him betrayed and slain.
Using a technique he formed, he is able to reincarnated himself into another world. In this world, he, unlike the other members of his prestigious mage family, has no affinity for magic.
Haruyoshi, now Seika, the son of his father’s mistress, is shunned for his origins and lack of affinity. However, while he lacks in traditional magic, he still excels in spiritual power, allowing him use of his onmyouji techniques.
While once he pursued power, he will now seek greatness by honing his cunning.
Both series start with people reincarnating into another world as the son of the aristocracy. However, while Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World is often comical and Cain gets along with his family well, The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World is different. He doesn’t get along with his siblings particularly well since there is competition for who can attend magic school.
Both series have these young children being more wildly powerful than their peers. However, in The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World, it is because he still has the knowledge and a large bit of power from his previous life as an exorcist. It makes his magic different from everyone else’s magic, and he was already a master of it before he died.
That said, The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World takes itself pretty seriously and becomes a school life sort of series, unlike Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World.
The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?
One day, 25-year-old Shingo Ichinomiya goes to sleep and wakes up a 6-year-old in a medieval noble family.
Unfortunately, he soon comes to learn that his noble family is not only quite poor, but he is actually the 8th son and looking at virtually no inheritance.
He is, however, talented at magic and decides to work to bring prosperity to his family.
Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World and The 8th Son are both isekai anime in which the characters get reincarnated into a family of nobles.
Both series feature the boys becoming particularly strong in either magic or just in general, and sort of leaving their family. Cain gets a peerage that separates him from his family whereas Wend in The 8th Son is the 8th son with no inheritance and uses his talents to make his own way.
Both series have main characters that enjoy magic in particular and gather a harem, it is just that The 8th Son plays that seriously and doesn’t make the situations seem as silly.
For Fans of Light-Hearted, Pleasant, and Plotless Fantasy Adventures
In Another World With My Smart Phone
Touya Mochizuki is accidentally killed, and as an apology, God allows him to be reborn into a fantasy world. He also gets one wish.
Touya chooses to use his wish to keep his smartphone that he uses to give him the knowledge to thrive his new world. However, after meeting a pair of other adventurers, he finds that, while his smartphone is handy, his powerful magical affinity makes him one of the strongest mages in the world.
The charming thing about Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World is that it kind of realizes what it is. It is the billionth isekai with a “different, but still incredibly similar” set up of an isekai and it just focuses on a pleasant main character enjoying his adventures with his comically needy harem. That is In Another World With My Smart Phone exactly as well.
There are moments of action in both series, but far more moments of levity. Both main characters have a large and overly attached harem that the main character treats in a friendly way yet doesn’t have an excessive amount of interest in. They are both honestly the kind of isekai anime where you can turn your brain off and just enjoy for what they are.
Beast Tamer
Rein is a beast tamer and member of the Hero’s Party. However, because beast taming is rather weak magic, he is used as more of a errand boy for them instead.
That all changes when they finally fire him and he is set adrift. Kicked out of the party, he ends up meeting a girl from one of the strongest species of beast people and tames her.
Together, they become magnificent adventurers while the Hero’s Party begins to realize that their previous success was all due to Rein’s support.
Although Beast Tamers differs immensely from Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World by daring to not be an isekai anime, it works on the same basic concept – a nice young man gathers a harem of girls by being strong and nice.
That’s about it. Both shows follow pleasant main characters who adventure around the country, endear themselves to girls, and then those girls usually end up following them. They have moments of action, good moments of levity, and don’t try to hard to be amazing.
The biggest different is that Beast Tamer is about a beast tamer who ends up contracting legendarily powerful animal girls, a feat an average beast tamer shouldn’t be able to do. It also has a bit of a wholesome vengeance twist where he was kicked out of his hero party by being weak, but it invites the audience to enjoy his vengeance in the form of being in a happy, wholesome party that actually values him.
Farming Life In Another World
After dying of an illness, Machio Hiraku is given the opportunity to reincarnate into another world.
The god grants him a healthy body and his wish to live peacefully. Machio also asks if he can have a talent for agriculture in hopes that he can live a more fulfilling life.
The god grants him all this as well as the ability to summon a farming tool that can turn into any agricultural tool he needs, including one that makes any seeds he can think of.
Machio is sent in the middle of a forest full of dangerous creatures. Without any civilization in sight, he makes his own small farm that slowly accumulates residents that wander the woods.
While Farming Life in Another World does sort of shake up the usual isekai formula by being about a guy that just becomes a farmer and starts a village (that is actually just the world’s largest harem), the similarities between it and Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World aren’t about how they try to shake up the formula. The similarities are about how they aren’t trying very hard to be the next big exciting isekai sensation.
Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World and Farming Life in Another World are the isekai you watch when you want to watch a nice, non-degenerate isekai main character live a happy life in their new world. They do what they enjoy, they are wildly overpowered thanks to the gods, and they gather a harem that is way more into the main character than the main character is into them, which is often used for comedy.
For Fans of Being Very Friendly With The Gods
By The Grace of the Gods
After leading a miserable life, Ryouma Takebayashi passes away at age 39.
Three deities, taking pity on him, reincarnate him into a fantasy world with an aptitude for magic, telling him to enjoy life and that they will always watch out for him.
With his newfound existence, he spends it studying slimes, amassing a slime army, and learning some magic, but he misses humanity. Being persuaded to join a group of travelers, Ryouma’s new world opens up for him.
To be perfectly honest, there is much about Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World that is just By The Grace of The Gods come again.
Both series are about people that are reincarnated into a new world as children, given great blessings by the gods because they are nice young men, and they choose to just live their new life doing what makes them happy.
While Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World often focuses on adventuring and the main character having a peerage, By The Grace of The Gods splits itself between adventuring, breeding slimes, and the main character running a business.
However, while Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World enjoys moments of action and a comical harem, By the Grace of the Gods mostly dodges harems and has significantly less moments of action. It is distinctly a pleasant slice of life isekai anime.
Cautious Hero – The Hero is Overpowered But Overly Cautious
In the divine realm, Gods and Goddesses are assigned worlds in peril to summon heroes to guide on their quest to save those worlds.
The Goddess of Healing, Ristarte, is assigned a difficult S-class world and told to pick a hero to defeat the Demon King. While her choices are underwhelming, one low level hero with super stats catches her eye!
Seiya Ryuuguuin is indeed a powerful hero, but he also has the problematic quirk of being overly cautious. His desire to stay on the safe side, over-preparing and over-training for all encounters, is a source of frustration for all.
Much of Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World is just the main character being comically annoyed but also enjoying how blessed he is by the gods. Alternatively, Cautious Hero is about how many gods one isekai protagonist can annoy/mentally break with their quirk for wanting to train and over-prepare.
While Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World isn’t strictly a comedy anime, it lets itself be a little less serious. Cautious Hero is a comedy isekai that actually starts to treat itself more seriously as it goes on.
Regardless, if you enjoyed the variety of gods in Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World, Cautious Hero lets you get to know various gods on a more personal and comical level.
Campfire Cooking In Another World With My Absurd Skill
Alongside three other heroes, Mukouda Tsuyoshi was transported to a fantasy world to save a kingdom.
However, it becomes very apparent that he was summoned as a mistake when the only skill he has is to be able to open an interface to purchase food items from modern Japan.
Kicked out into the world, Tsuyoshi sets out into the world and his ability to make delicious dishes soon pays off. He attracted the attention of legendary wolf Fenrir who enjoyed the meal so much that he forms a pact with him to be his familiar.
Now employed as a merchant and adventurer, he travels and cooks to earn a living.
Although Campfire Cooking in Another World doesn’t start with the main character being excessively blessed by the gods, that starts to become an element later in the series. Essentially, he gives one goddess offerings of delicious snack foods, then suddenly all the goddess want to start throwing blessing at him for offerings.
What Chronicles of an Aristocrat Reborn in Another World and Campfire Cooking in Another World most have in common is that they follow pleasant main characters that just want to travel and adventure. They aren’t particularly serious about it, and they are fun to watch. However, instead of gathering a harem and being wildly overpowered, the main character in Campfire Cooking in Another World is only really good at cooking food, and only his beast companions are overpowered.
