Hiiragi Utena has always been a fan of magical girls and the Tres Magia magical girl trio that defends her city. With such admiration, it is only natural that she perked up with excitement when a magical being approached her one night, claiming she has dormant magical powers within her.
However, after receiving the magical girl transformation of her dreams, she discovers that she is not a hero, but a villain destined to fight magical girls in the evil organization Enormita.
Not interested in being a villain, she tries to quit when the magical girl trio appear and tries to take her down. However, Utena soon discovers that torturing magical girls has awakened a secret pleasure in her.
Fetishes! Fetishes everywhere! It’s a magical girl series like you’ve never seen, but will it be like what Madoka Magica did to “dark” magical girl anime and spawn a whole bunch of “ecchi” magical girl copycats for years to come? Anime Like Gushing Over Magical Girls
For Fans of Ecchi Fetishes
Valkyrie Drive – Mermaid
Mamori is a naive high school girl whose world gets turned upside down when she is kidnapped and stranded on the exotic island of Mermaid. However, she is not alone. She soon meets up with fellow castaway Mirei.
Unfortunately, Mirei introduces herself by giving Mamori a passionate kiss, thus unlocking her hidden potential and the pair become a battle duo with powers fueled by arousal.
Together, they now battle their way across the island as they discover the whole island it inhabited by women like them.
Do you enjoy gushing over magical girls because it is exclusively all women who are exploring their fetishes all over each other? Then Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid will have an extremely similar appeal to you.
While Gushing Over Magical Girls is exploring ecchi fetishes through the plot of magical girls versus evil organizations, Valkyrie Drive is actually not too dissimilar in that it is about a secluded island of young women who have the ability to turn other young women on the island into weapons by sexually exciting them.
Both are true experiences if you crave unique ecchi anime that is still completely bodacious.
Immoral Guild
Kikuru Madan is a monster hunter and has built up an impressive reputation in his guild. However, after receiving a notification that his old friend had gotten married, he realized he has wasted his youth without even getting a girlfriend.
Now he seeks to retire from monster hunting to find a girlfriend, but before he does, he must train a suitable successor.
What Gushing Over Magical Girls is playing with in the magical girl genre, Immoral Guild is playing with in the standard medieval fantasy RPG setting that you see in most fantasy anime these days.
They both take a familiar concept and then ecchi it up to the tits with, well, tits. Instead of magical girls getting molested by “eviler” magical girls, Immoral Guild is about female adventurers getting molested by a series of fantasy creatures.
Although they have very different settings, they share a love of frequent ecchi and many different types of fetishes.
Seven Mortal Sins
After going against the Lord’s will, Lucifer, former head of the Seven Heavenly Virtues, is banished from Heaven. While falling, she crashes through the roof of a high school church in front of the reserved Maria Totsuka.
Continuing her decent to hell, Lucifer teams up with Leviathan to try to overthrow the rulers of Hell, the Seven Deadly Sins. They fail and are swiftly punished, cursing Lucifer with the Garb of Punishment.
Trekking back to earth with Leviathan in toe, Lucifer enslaves the human Maria and the three go on a journey to lift the curse placed on her.
Both Gushing Over Magical Girls and Seven Mortal Sins are ecchi anime exploring the lewd and morally dubious adventures of beings that are technically villains. However, as they are the main characters in the story, you can’t rightly call them the villains in it either.
In Gushing Over Magical Girls, Enormita is the “evil” organization with a main character who is in it, but doesn’t really do anything evil. In Seven Mortal Sins, every character except the main character is some sort of morally dubious being, which they use as an excuse as to why they are so lewd.
Super HXEros
Earth was on the verge of disaster after aliens invaded and began to drain the sexual energy of Earth’s humans. However, heroes appeared that use H abilities fueled by erotic power in order to fight back.
Retto and Kirara are childhood friends that, after rekindling their relationship, have both been drafted into the Super HxEros organization to save the world with their raging libidos.
What Gushing Over Magical Girls is doing with magical girls, Super HXEros is doing with Tokusatsu. Essentially, both series are taking their separate concepts and making them extra sexy.
While Gushing Over Magical Girls has its plot built around a normal girl who becomes a dark magical girl and discovers her fetishes through her variety of evil powers, Super HXEros is about a series of horny young people who use the power of their extra-strong libido to fight aliens that are trying to take the libido of humanity away to cause their extinction.
Distinctly separate plots, but similarly lewd and surprisingly fun ones.
For Fans of Twisting Magical Girl Tropes
The Demon Girl Next Door
After a strange dream, Yuuko wakes up to discover that she has grown demon horns. Her mother informs her that they are descendants of a demon that was banished to live powerless by the magical girls of the Light Clan.
Apparently, the only way to break the curse is to find a magical girl and murder her. While she happens upon a magical girl, her power is vastly superior to hers. The magical girl in question, Momo, takes pity on her and decides to train her in order to unlock her latent powers.
Both Gushing Over Magical Girls and The Demon Girl Next Door are straightforward magical girl anime but follow the villains as main characters of the story instead. Furthermore, both stories are more about the main characters interacting with the magical girls rather than diehard fighting with them.
However, while Gushing Over Magical Girls is an ecchi feast for the eyes, The Demon Girl Next Door is more of a moe comedy anime without much fan service to be found.
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya
Mage’s Association members Rin Toosaka and Luviagelita “Luvia” Edelfelt have been tasked with finding seven medieval artifacts called Class Cards that contain the essence of Heroic Spirits.
To aid them, they were granted two sentient Kaleidosticks that would allow them to transform into magical girls to increase their abilities. However, as the two girls get along like oil and water, the Kaleidosticks end up abandoning them.
They find their way into the hands of two school girls, Illyasviel von Einzbern and Miyu, who agree to be their holders – thus transferring the sacred task of gathering the seven Class Cards to them.
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is a distinctly more traditional magical girl story but made using characters from the Fate/Stay Type-Moon universe. However, while it tells a more traditional magical girl story, like Gushing Over Magical Girls, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is a series that knows the value of fan service.
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is definitely not as ecchi as Gushing Over Magical Girls, but it also still has a decent amount of fan service moments that feed into that same desire – with an extra dollop of moe on top. Both also have a comparable amount of shoujo ai moments as well.
It is also worth noting that you don’t necessarily need knowledge of Fate/Stay to enjoy it as it takes place in an alternate universe.
Kill la Kill
Ryuuko Matoi is on the hunt for her father’s killer, and her only lead is the missing half of his invention, the Scissor Blade.
On her quest, she arrives at the prestigious Honnouji Academy, a school that is ruled over by the super powerful Satsuki Kiryuuin and her Elite Four. Believing Satsuki knows who killed her father, Ryuuko challenges one of the elite, but gets beaten due to their special uniforms.
After receiving a special uniform of her own, Ryuuko sets plans into motion to dominate the school and find out what happened to her father.
While it is a divisive opinion to call Kill la Kill a magical girl anime, I think everyone can agree that it plays with some of the same tropes while injecting more of a shounen action anime plot into things. However, what Kill la Kill and Gushing Over Magical Girls share is not so much a “magical girl” type of story, but rather a shared passion for scantily-clad women with barely covered areolas.
That said, while both series feature an above-average amount of flesh showing in their costumes, Gushing Over Magical Girls is really about just exploring fetishes in the form of “battling” magical girls without much actual battle. Kill la Kill integrates the nudity more into the world building and has a tremendous focus on energetic, epic, and interesting battles. It doesn’t draw as much attention to the skimpy clothing, but the skin still shines in many moments.
For Fans of Villains as the Main Characters
Love After World Domination
Fudo Aikawa dons the mantle of Gelato Red, leader of a group of protectors that stand against an organization bent on world domination. Desumi Magahara is a fierce warrior in the ranks of that organization.
After first meeting, it was love at first sight for Fudo, and they agreed to go out.
However, their relationship must remain a secret, though that doesn’t mean they can’t make special moments for themselves.
Both Gushing Over Magical Girls and Love After World Domination twist up the standard “good versus evil” plot of older anime by focusing on the evil villains and exploring their motives as characters.
That said, Gushing Over Magical Girls and Love After World Domination have very different plots. Gushing Over Magical Girls is about exploring a variety of ecchi fetishes while Love After World Domination is actually a fairly cute and wholesome romantic comedy.
Kuroitsu-san from the Monster Development Department
While Agastia is known to the world as a firm that specializes in theme parks, beneath the surface it is actually an evil organization bent on world domination.
Working in Agastia’s Monster Development Division, Touka Kuroitsu is a researcher who is the frequent victim of the eccentricities of her division seniors.
Each day she is responsible for meeting the ridiculous demands for new monster designs, giving abruptly scheduled presentations, and forced to accompany her monsters to fight the enemies of Agastia that thwart their evil designs of world domination – all for the sake of promotion that may never come.
Both Gushing Over Magical Girls and Kuroitsu-san from the Monster Development Department feature female main characters who work in evil organizations.
However, Kuroitsu-san from the Monster Development Department is presented more like a workplace comedy about creating various monsters that would be used in a Super Sentai-type plot instead of the ecchi experience of Gushing Over Magical Girls.
While Kuroitsu-san from the Monster Development Department lacks the ecchi element, it is a series that is dedicated to crafting a number of similarly nice-to-look-at anime girl characters. If you were charmed by the particularly unique character designs present in Enormita but don’t need them to be as hyper-focused on the ecchi element of the design, Kuroitsu-san from the Monster Development Department also puts forth the effort.
World Conquest Zvezda Plot
A runaway named Jimon is wandering the streets one night when he encounters a collapsed young girl. After offering her some food, she invites him to join her organization.
Really just needing a place to stay, he accepts and accepts her nickname of Dva. The girl turns out to be Kate, leader of Zvezda, an organization bent on world conquest.
Gushing Over Magical Girls and World Conquest Zvezda Plot put villainous organizations in the main character seat while also following a relatively normal main character that doesn’t really want to be involved with them.
While they share that in common, Gushing Over Magical Girls injects a lot of ecchi and fetishes to innovate its rather straightforward plot. World Conquest Zvezda Plot is legitimately playing the plot straight. It uses a lot of tropes in the story and the only thing that sets it apart is that it does follow the villains on their path for conquest.
