Anime Like Kaiju No. 8

For years, grotesque giant monsters have appeared suddenly to attack Japan. To combat the destructive threat, the Defense Corps was established to fight them and the Professional Kaiju Cleaner Corporation was created to clean up the massive remains.

Kafka Hibino is a middle-aged man who works as a sweeper cleaning up remains despite his big childhood dreams of becoming a Defense Corps member with his childhood friend. While his friend thrives as a powerful asset in the Defense Corps, Kafka has failed the recruitment exam numerous times.

After meeting an ambitious new recruit to his sweeper unit named Reno, a kaiju attack leaves them both in the hospital where a small, parasitic kaiju embeds himself in Kafka and turns him into a monster.

With Reno’s help, Kafka is able to flee and eventually transform back into a human, but he is left with the ability to become a kaiju at will and has access to superhuman abilities that he can use to fight kaiju.

One night, sixteen-year-old Shinichi Izumi was peacefully sleeping when a race of parasitic aliens descended on Earth.

One parasite infects Shinichi, trying to get to his brain to take over his body, but ends up getting stuck in his right hand. Unable to relocate to the brain, the alien, named Migi, now has no choice but to learn to coexist with Shinichi in his body in order to stay alive.

Unfortunately, the other parasitic aliens are not so friendly with humans or to parasites that failed to complete their mission.

After his father’s death left him with a pile of debt, Denji and his pet devil Pochita struggle to pay it off. However, after the yakuza kills him, Pochita fuses himself with Denji’s corpse and he awakens as a Chainsaw Devil.

Found by government devil hunters, Denji is brought in to hunt other devils on an experimental squad where he is finally able to pursue his simple teenage dreams of eating good food and spending time with a cute girl.

Facing imminent extinction, humanity retreated behind a series of tall, thick walls to escape their most dangerous threat – massive human-like Titans with a taste for human flesh.

With an enemy that eats humanity for fun rather than food, they are constantly threatened. As such, it is the duty of every human to defend the species.

Enter Eren Yegaer who, after his village was destroyed by Titans breaching the outer wall, he and his adopted sister Mikasa join the Survey Corps. They are one of three factions of the military that scouts and combats Titans outside the walls.

After joining in the brutal war, Eren discovers a secret about himself that could unravel what the world thinks they know about Titans.

During the industrial revolution of their world, a monster appeared that cannot be killed unless pierced through its iron-protected heart. Those who are bitten by the creature become zombies know as Kabane.

On the island of Hinomoto, humanity has built stations to seek refuge from these creatures. Ikoma lives at a station that brings supplies to the island and has created a weapon he believes can fight these creatures.

While waiting for a chance to test it, he meets a mysterious girl named Mumei. After following her, he might just get the chance he desires.

The citizens of Tokyo now live in fear of vicious creatures called ghouls that blend in alongside humans and feast on their flesh.

One day, Ken Kaneki, a shy college student, meets a girl called Rize who is also an avid reader like him. Unfortunately, as he finds out on his first date, Rize turns out to be a ghoul.

Just when she is about to eat him, Kaneki is saved, barely clinging to life. In the process of surviving this attack, Kaneki finds out that he has now become a ghoul.

Amnesiac Yuta Hibiki one day encounters Hyper Agent Gridman inside an old computer. Gridman tells him that he needs to fulfill his mission.

While sorting out what that all means, a giant monster attacks his city. Yuta then discovers he can merge with Gridman to fight the monster, but once it is done, everyone’s memories reset and the dead are forgotten.

Yun Arikawa is an engineer who runs a do-it-all shop in Nigashio City. One day, he is tasked with investigating a supposedly haunted Western-style mansion. Elsewhere, Mei Kamino, a graduate student studying imaginary creatures, is tasked with investigating a mysterious signal in the old administrative building in Misakuioku’s Tsuguno district.

These two strangers, investigating mysteries in two different places, are suddenly brought together when they hear the same strange song that signals the beginning of an unprecedented threat to the universe.

Kei Kurono is an apathetic young man that, while waiting for his train, runs into a childhood friend. When a homeless man falls onto a track, his friend coaxes him into helping save his life.

Unfortunately, the train comes in and they both die.

When they both wake up, they are in a strange room with other recently deceased people and a big black ball that tells them to kill aliens in order to gain their freedom.

After a gate to another world opens, Mikado City is invaded by mysterious creatures impervious to traditional weaponry called Neighbors. Shortly after, a military organization called the Border Defense Agency is formed where members use mysterious, unique weaponry known as Triggers to fight back against the invaders.

Years later, Neighbor attacks become more infrequent, but the Border Defense Agency remains vigilant. Osamu Mikumo is a recruit in training who is still not permitted to have a Trigger outside of headquarters. However, when he watches a mysterious new student dragged into a dangerous zone by bullies who are then attacked by Neighbors, he takes action.

Much to his surprise, this new student defeats the Neighbors and reveals that he is actually a humanoid Neighbor in disguise.

After a mysterious virus killed every human over 13 years old, the vampires rose up with a promise to protect the survivors. The only thing they asked in return is donations of blood.

For Yuuichirou and Mikaela, they have grown tired of being livestock and pose a daring escape plan. It ultimately fails with only Yuuichirou left alive. However, after joining up with a mercenary company, he swears vengeance on the vampires, no matter the cost.

A phenomenon has started overtaking mankind – one where people spontaneously combust and turn into destructive fire demons called Infernals.

To fight these demons, special fire forces were established full of those with dedication and powers to control fire.

This is the story of Fire Force 8 and their newest recruit – Shinra, who aims to become a hero and discover the truth behind the Infernals.

After the sudden appearance of super powers, or “quirks,” now 80 percent of humanity has some kind of power. With some Quirk users turning to crime, it gave rise to super heroes that help the police keep the peace.

Since he was a child, Izuku Midoriya has idolized super heroes, especially the symbol of peace, All Might, but he is devastated to learn that he won’t manifest a Quirk himself. Still, he studies super heroes and is determined to become one.

After a chance encounter with All Might, Midoriya learns that there still may be a chance for him to be a hero after all.

In order to gain more power, demons search for fragments of the legendary demon Sukuna to consume them.

One day, Yuuji Itadori, who just lost his grandfather, learns of this as he saves his school friends from being consumed by demons after they break the seal on one of the body parts of Sukuna that was at their school.

In order to stand a chance, he eats it, revealing himself as a rare vessel that can utilize and control the curse of Sukuna, meaning when he dies, Sukuna’s curse dies with him.
