While My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer is an adventure comedy with some touching father-daughter relationship moments, Somali and the Forest Guardian is more about the build up. The pair start off as strangers, and on their journey you watch them build towards a cute and wholesome father-daughter relationship despite not being the same species. That said, Somali and the Forest Guardian is prone to a lot more melancholy.
The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch
Alyssa is a witch who lives alone in the forest. One day, she finds a human baby abandoned in a bush and, after no one returned for the baby girl, decided to take her home.
16 years later, the baby she named Viola is still incredibly attached to her mother. However, Viola grew into a woman of fine proportions that makes Alyssa look like her daughter rather than her mother.
Both The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch and My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer work with the same concept, but with a different parenting dynamic.
Both series are about people who found abandoned babies in the woods and raised them. Those babies grew up to be tremendously powerful, and also wildly attached to their single parent. So, what My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer is to a father-daughter relationship, The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch is to a mother-daughter relationship.
Mostly, they are light-hearted anime that lean pretty hard on a small handful of jokes. However, while My Daughter Left the Nest Manifests a more serious plot, The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch is still just a comedy.

Chillin’ in My 30s After Getting Fired From The Demon King’s Army
Dariel is a dark soldier in the Demon King’s army – or rather, he was. After the son of the previous demon general took over, he swiftly fired Dariel for a lack of power and supposed usefulness.
Set adrift, Dariel rescues a girl from a monster in the woods and she takes him to her village. There, he discovers that he wasn’t actually a demon, but is a human – and an incredibly powerful one.
Now he pays the village back for all their kindness by helping them out.
Although they differ greatly in plot, in truth neither My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer nor Chillin’ in my 30s After Getting Fired From The Demon King’s Army actually have a robust plot anyway. They are both fantasy anime that are more focused on light-hearted adventures, friendship, and family.
While both series have action and focus on the relationships that the characters build with others, they are often more comedy anime where the comedy comes from how ridiculously overpowered some characters are. Furthermore, those same characters also have mysterious origins that are explored as the series goes on.
If you liked the lighter sort of fantasy misadventures, but don’t necessarily need a whole anime built around a daughter’s fondness for her father, Chillin’ in My 30s is an excellent watch. Although Dariel does have his own overly attached love interest.
Banished From The Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live A Quiet Life in The Countryside
Red was once the member of a hero’s party that sought to destroy the Demon Lord Taraxon. However, while Red was powerful at first, his companions soon eclipsed him, and thus, pushed him out of the party.
Hoping for a more laid-back life, he moves to the country with a dream to start an apothecary. He hopes to keep his past as an adventurer a secret, but that becomes increasingly more difficult when an adventurer named Rit from his past asks to move in with him.
Both My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer and Banished From The Hero’s Party are about the slow country life (and occasional adventures) of a now-retired hero.
Similar to Belgrieve, something happened to Red that made him retire from adventuring. So he decides to start a shop in a rural town. While he isn’t raising a daughter, Banished From the Hero’s Party is both a fantasy slice of life about starting an apothecary and a building romance between his old adventuring companion that moves in with him. So while not a wholesome father-daughter fantasy comedy like My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer, it has a similar cute dynamic that makes it a joy to watch.
I’ve Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills
Al Wayne is a passionate farmer who spends his days tending his fields and occasionally helping his friends. However, in doing so, he ended up maxing out his level and integrating his farming skills into that, he becomes stronger than even legendary heroes.
Unfortunately, his immense power has caught the eye of the nation’s princess who gives him a large swathe of land in return for becoming an adventurer to help the nation.
In My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer, the reoccurring joke is that Angeline wants to see her dad, but something always comes up that often prevents it. In I’ve Somehow Gotten Strong When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills, the reoccurring joke is that Al just wants to go home and farm, but the kingdom needs his overpowered skills to save them from peril.
These series use the same joke, lean on it heavily for awhile until the phase it out, and provide a light-hearted and fun (non-isekai) fantasy adventure. However, while My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer has a wholesome father-daughter relationship, I’ve Somehow Gotten Stronger When I Improved My Farm-Related Skills is more a standard harem with an uninterested, but nice harem king.
