Humans and demons known as Katawara live in contentious balance with each other. With Katawara often devouring humans, even offering their protection and blessing in return or sacrifices, they seem to hate humanity and humanity lives in fear and hatred of them.
Tama is a Katawara that loves humans and has vowed to protect them from evil, even if it means fighting others of her own kind. Jinka is a human raised by Katawara that hates humans despite mostly being one. The pair of sworn siblings are joined by Shinsurke, a cowardly swordsman who is on a quest to earn true strength.
However, the group gets on the wrong side of an organization of priests working for the Shogunate that are experimenting with a process to create super-powered humans by fusing them with Katawara. Now it is both a fight for their survival and to save the numerous humans and Katawara being used in vicious experiments.
