Without realizing his dream of making the world’s best pastry, a promising pastry chef suddenly dies. However, he is reincarnated into a new world as the young noble, Pastry Mille Morteln.
Although he is the eldest son of an impoverished country lord, he is determined to still follow his dreams of being a pastry chef even in his new life. Now, he balances fulfilling expectations as an aristocrat while also gathering all the ingredients he needs to make wonderful confections as he builds his dream kingdom of sweets.
I will eat up food anime all day long, but I also appreciate that this food isekai wasn’t just all about the food either. It combined the good things of both food and isekai. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Sweet Reincarnation, head on down below.

For Fans of Food Isekai
Campfire Cooking in Another World With My Absurd Skill
Alongside three other heroes, Mukouda Tsuyoshi was transported to a fantasy world to save a kingdom.
However, it becomes very apparent that he was summoned as a mistake when the only skill he has is to be able to open an interface to purchase food items from modern Japan.
Kicked out into the world, Tsuyoshi sets out into the world and his ability to make delicious dishes soon pays off. He attracted the attention of legendary wolf Fenrir who enjoyed the meal so much that he forms a pact with him to be his familiar.
Now employed as a merchant and adventurer, he travels and cooks to earn a living.
Both Sweet Reincarnation and Campfire Cooking in Another World are food-based isekai. Sweet Reincarnation is focused on making, or at least wanting to make, sweet treats while Campfire Cooking is about traveling and making tasty Japanese food.
Both series have that element of using fantasy ingredients that are close enough to real life ingredients, but Campfire Cooking’s entire hook is the main character having access to an online grocery store.
While both series are food anime, Campfire Cooking in Another World goes into a lot more detail in the actual preparation of the dishes.
Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon
After a vending machine otaku ironically meets his end due to a vending machine, he is thrilled to find out he has reincarnated in a fantasy land as a vending machine. Unfortunately, he was placed in the middle of the country with no one else around.
After discovering he earns points through selling goods that he can use to change stock, get new abilities, and that are used as his power source, he watches them tick down as he waits for customers.
Luckily, he is discovered by a young woman who enjoys his goods, discovers his sentience and limited communication skills, and takes him to a nearby town. Given the name Boxxo, he helps out various adventurers by – like a true vending machine – offering just what they need.
While most people are brought into Reborn as a Vending Machine for its ridiculous isekai hook, it is actually a food isekai anime much like Sweet Reincarnation.
Both series feature main characters that are bringing things they love to a fantasy world. One just happens to be a vending machine.
The big similarity is that both isekai anime are light-hearted, but not just about comedy or aimless shenanigans. They have small arc-based adventures that can sometimes get pretty dire, but always return back to pleasant characters enjoying some food.
Princess Connect Re-Dive
The nameless main character is sent to a new world. Kokoro, a girl chosen to be the guardian of her lord, travels to that specific location, told that she would find her lord there.
While teaching him of his new world, she meets several other companions and they decide to form a Gourmet Guild in search of delicious things to eat.
Unlike Sweet Reincarnation that is a standard isekai, Princess Connect is based on a gacha game, so the main character is more a stand-in for the audience that was mysteriously transported to the world of Princess Connect.
However, that key difference aside, Princess Connect is often very food-focused. Sometimes they go on adventures just to be able to cook something specific.
While it has a food focus like Sweet Reincarnation, Princess Connect also has a plot that it occasionally follows. Though when it comes to plot, it certainly tries to be more serious about it than Sweet Reincarnation.
Farming Life in Another World
After dying of an illness, Machio Hiraku is given the opportunity to reincarnate into another world.
The god grants him a healthy body and his wish to live peacefully. Machio also asks if he can have a talent for agriculture in hopes that he can live a more fulfilling life.
The god grants him all this as well as the ability to summon a farming tool that can turn into any agricultural tool he needs, including one that makes any seeds he can think of.
Machio is sent in the middle of a forest full of dangerous creatures. Without any civilization in sight, he makes his own small farm that slowly accumulates residents that wander the woods.
While Farming Life in Another World is a farming isekai, it is also a food isekai. In a very similar way to Sweet Reincarnation, the characters are often doing a thing, and the end of that work often ends with a tasty meal between friends. They are also rather focused on sort of building up or improving their small towns/fiefs.
While both anime have a similar sort of storytelling when it comes to solving problems then having a meal, there is one key difference to keep in mind. Farming Life in Another World is unapologetically a harem. The village he starts is almost all female, and they all love him. It isn’t ecchi about it, though. It is usually kept wholesome, but the horny lurks offscreen.
For Fans of Pursuing Passions Even in Another World
Parallel World Pharmacy
After dedicating himself to creating medicines as a pharmacist, Kani Yakutani works himself to death at the age of 31.
He awakens in the form of a ten-year-old boy that has been struck by lightning. He discovers that he is the son of a prestigious family as well the host to the guardian deity of medicine. This allows him to immediately diagnose illnesses in others.
While this is a miraculous ability, he discovers the state of medicine in this world is primitive and takes up his previous profession from his past life as a pharmacist once again.
Sweet Reincarnation and Parallel World Pharmacy are isekai anime where the main character was so passionate about a topic that they died doing it and still wanted to continue doing it in an isekai world.
While Pastry wanting to make sweet treats is a much less noble desire than Falma wanting to advance the field of medicine in a new world, Pastry often uses his knowledge and magic to improve his fiefdom in an equally noble way.
Both series are somewhat light-hearted, but not without their serious moments of drama. They also both manage to avoid the being harems.
Ascendance of a Bookworm
Motosu Urano loves books. She recently got her librarian certification and was about to enter her dream job when an earthquake caused her to be crushed by her collection of books.
She is reincarnated into a new world as the five year old daughter of a soldier. Unfortunately, in this world, books are reserved for the elite nobility.
What do you do when your station in life does not afford you access to books? Make your own.
Both Sweet Reincarnation and Ascendance of a Bookworm are isekai anime where the main characters were so into something in their past life that they were killed by it. Instead of moving onto something else in their next life, they bring their passion to life in a new world that isn’t as advanced as their old one.
In fact, of all the other isekai anime on this list, even if Ascendance of a Bookworm isn’t about food, it is probably the most similar anime to Sweet Reincarnation in terms of content and general feel.
Both series focus on the main characters giving attention to their passion, but they also engage in other things going on in the world. They have friends that help them and are generally pretty light, but not completely plotless isekai anime.
Kemono Michi
Shibata Genzo is both a professional wrestler and an animal lover. One day, he is summoned to another world by a princess. She makes the mistake of asking him to rid her kingdom of these evil beasts.
Instead of doing that, Genzo suplexes her and heads off to start a monster pet shop.
Sweet Reincarnation and Kemono Michi are both isekai anime that are more pleasant and comedic, but one is about finding time for pastry in an isekai world while another is ignoring being an isekai protagonist to open a pet shop for creatures and petting beastmen on the belly.
Both series feature main characters that follow their passions from their previous life instead of living the more traditional isekai life of adventure.
However, while Sweet Reincarnation is a little comedic and always more light-heated, it does actually have things that the main character is doing for his country that aren’t dessert-related. Alternatively, Kemono Michi is a comedy isekai that has no goal other than to make jokes that make you laugh. So it doesn’t really have much of a plot.
For Fans of Confection Making
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale
Fairies once lived free alongside humanity until humans discovered that stripping a wing from a fairy means literally holding their life in your hands. Now, fairies are enslaved to humans.
Ann is a young girl aspiring to become a Silver Sugar Master like her late mother was. To further this goal, she sets out to the royal capital, and on this dangerous journey she purchases a warrior fairy named Challe Fen Challe to protect her.
As Ann believes in the freedom and equality of faeries, she buys him and offers to give his wing back when she reaches her destination. However, as they travel, their bond together grows.
Both Sweet Reincarnation and Sugar Apple Fairy Tale are fantasy anime that follow confection-makers. However, they have one very key difference – Sugar Apple Fairy Tale is about fictional confection-making.
While Sweet Reincarnation has recipes using fantasy ingredients based on very real recipes, Sugar Apple Fairy Tale follows an aspiring silver sugar artisan on her adventures and growing romance with her fairy bodyguard.
If you don’t mind that Sugar Apple Fairy Tale is a more fantasy shoujo romance and not the same pleasant isekai adventure as Sweet Reincarnation, they feature a similar passion for confections between the main characters. Although, the silver sugar pieces in Sugar Apple Fairy Tale are treated more as art than food.
Yumeiro Patissiere
Ichigo Amano is clumsy and not good at anything, but one day she has a chance encounter with a master pastry chef.
When he discovers her amazing palate, this famous pastry maker offers her a chance to attend the prestigious St. Marie Academy, a cooking school that specializes in desserts.
Both Sweet Reincarnation and Yumeiro Patissiere are similar in that they are about young pastry chefs.
However, while Sweet Reincarnation has a seasoned pastry chef in the body of a child, Yumeiro Patissiere is more your standard “talented beginner in a new competitive cooking environment” sort of affair.
While Yumeiro Patissiere lacks the fantasy, it gets pretty in-depth with the pastry.
Deaimon – Recipe for Happiness
It has been ten years since Nagomu Irino left home to pursue his dream of music. While his dream is failing, he receives a letter hearing saying father has been hospitalized, so he returns home to help run his family’s traditional Kyoto sweets shop.
Once there, he finds his father is fine, but they have picked up an abandoned 10-year-old girl named Itsuka Yukihira, and his father has chosen her as successor.
It isn’t long before Nagomu bonds with Itsuka, viewing himself as a father-like figure to her.
Unlike Sweet Reincarnation, Deaimon is a confection-based food anime, but about more traditional Japanese sweets.
While Deaimon features far less pastry (in every sense), it has the same clear fondness for the confections that Sweet Reincarnation displays. Both series are not just pretty pleasant to watch, though not without some drama, they also put a lot of emphasis on how the right sweet treat in the right moment can be just perfect.
