The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten anime

Anime Like The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten

After seeing the “angel” of his school, Mahiru Shiina, sitting in the rain, Amane Fujimiya gives her his umbrella and catches a cold because of it.

While he expected her to return the umbrella eventually, he is surprised when she, a girl who is also his neighbor, comes over to take care of him.

Seeing the unsightly state of his apartment, she helps him get that in order and suddenly he finds that she is doing small household tasks for him every day after school as they spend more time together.

This anime seems to be built upon the belief that a girlfriend is a mother you can fuck if you are well behaved, and that thought consistently made it difficult for me to enjoy what has all the earmarks of a cute romance anime. Regardless, if you are looking for more anime recommendations like The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, head on down below.

For Fans of Playing House / Living Together

My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex anime

My Stepmom’s Daughter is My Ex

In middle school, two bookish kids met in the library, bonding over books, and eventually dating. However, as time went on, the small annoyances began to add up, and so Mizuto Irido and Yume Ayai ended up breaking their relationship off.

Getting ready to move onto high school and move on with their lives, a wrench was thrown in their new separate lives when it turns out that their parents had married and they are now step-siblings living in the same house and going to the same school.

As they try to regard each other as siblings, their feelings are proving hard to move past.

While My Stepmom’s Daughter is My Ex has the titular twist in the title, these series both capture a similar type of romance.

Both series follow couples that clearly have feelings for each other, but keep each other at bay. This is particularly hard because they also spend a good deal of time together in their home. However, while My Stepmom’s Daughter is My Ex has an element of contention between them, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten keeps things endlessly sweet where strife is minimal and easily overcome.

Nasa and tsukasa looking at their wedding rings in Tonikawa anime

Tonikawa

After being ridiculed for his strange name, Nasa, like the space agency, decides he will become a man even greater than the starry sky. However, one night, that all changes when he sees a beautiful girl.

She ends up saving him from being fatally hit by a truck while crossing the street to talk to her. Having chased her down despite his serious injuries, he asks her out. She says she will go out with him if they marry. He agrees, and passes out.

Waking up to find her gone, he abandons his ambitions until one day when she shows up with their marriage registration.

I believe that Tonikawa and The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten appeals to audiences that want a similar type of thing – a girlfriend/wife that loves them unconditionally.

However, while The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten has Mahiru cook, clean, and act demure for almost nothing in return, Tonikawa captures more of the give and take of an actual relationship where they get along well and have a more equal partnership.

Both are wholesome cohabitation romances, but done with different levels of finesse.

taisho maiden fairy tale anime

Taisho Maiden Fairy Tale

After losing his mother and the loss of his dominant hand in a car crash, Tamahiko Shima was exiled by his strict father to an estate in the mountains of Chiba.

Becoming a pessimist and determined to waste away in his uselessness, Tamahiko gets a surprise one night when his father bought a young girl from those who owed him a debt and sent her to live with him as his new bride.

Although he laments her having to marry someone like him, his new betrothed Yuzuki and her wealth of kindness become rehabilitating.

Both of these romance anime series follow a guy who is suddenly being cared for and basically living with a girlfriend that they didn’t actually ask out. However, both the circumstances of how this comes to pass and the time period differ.

Taisho Maiden Fairy Tale takes place in 1921, so it is more industrialized Japan with still some traditional aspects – like the arranged marriage he finds himself in when his father buys and sends him a wife.

Both romance anime feature main characters who carry on a romance with the girl who cooks, cleans, and basically lives with them that they really don’t know that much about. While Taisho Maiden has its historical twist, a romance in any age still has the same tropes. Except unlike The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten where Mahiru is the emotionally damaged one, Tamahiko is the one with the emotional problems that need overcoming through love.

more than a married couple but less than lovers anime

More Than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers

Jirou Yakuin, third-year high school student and otaku, has had a crush on his childhood friend, Shiori. He hopes to be paired with her for their school’s upcoming marriage practical – an exam where two people are paired to live together in order to practice married life as they are observed and scored.

For popular Akari Watanabe, she hopes to be paired with the handsome Minami. Much to each other’s dismay, Jirou and Akari and paired together while Minami and Shiori are paired together.

Luckily, if both couples rank in the top, they can change partners, thus do Akari and Jirou venture to pretend to have a perfect married life.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten and More Than a Married Couple are about, well, the dream. The dream being a normal guy and landing a beautiful girl – or girls – that love you and do things like cook and clean for you.

However, More Than a Married Couple is less wholesome romance as the majority of its plot revolves around the main character deciding which girl he actually loves. It also tends to wedge in a bit more fan service without being specifically an ecchi anime.

For Fans of Ultra Popular Girl and a Nobody Fall in Love

Miyamura and Hori from Horimiya laying down

Horimiya

Although lauded for being likable and intelligent, Kyouko Hori hides the fact that she has to take care of her brother and the housework because her parents are always working.

Izumi Miyamura, on the other hand, is seen as a brooding, bespectacled otaku. Outside of school, he sports tattoos and nine piercings.

By happenstance, the two outside school personalities of these two classmates meet and they get to know a side of each other they don’t show their peers.

Both Horimiya and The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten features romance between two people outside of school. Instead of bonding in the classroom, they bond in a house. Furthermore, both series have an element of the main characters being misunderstood by their peers based on how they act in school. Only the main couple gets to see the real side of each other.

If you like romance anime with minimal drama that puts more of an emphasis on the nice fluffy slice of life moments, both series are that.

Kubo Won't Let Me Be Invisible anime

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible

Junta Shiraishi has a special, if not sometimes inconvenient skill of being difficult for people to notice due to his lack of presence. However, while even the teacher fails to notice him, his desk neighbor Nagisa Kubo seems to never miss him.

Unfortunately, Kubo likes to tease him on a daily basis and put his near-invisibility to the test in nerve-wracking situations. However, her playful antics begin to evolve into what normal people would easy see as clear feelings for him.

While Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible is a middle school romance anime, and often feels much younger, like The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, it is about a girl who only has eyes for the main character.

Both series follow girls who are well liked, but are the only ones to see the good side of the male main character. What you get in both series is wholesome moments of them getting to know each other in a likable way.

However, while The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten moves onto actual romantic progression, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible often lingers in just being wholesome rather than reaching romance milestones.

3d girlfriend anime

3D Girlfriend

Tsusui Hikari is an otaku that mostly avoids social life. He only really has one friend at school and is otherwise mocked by his classmates.

One day, he ends up having to clean the pool with Igarashi Iroha. She is blunt, truant, and a troublemaker, but she stands up for Hikari when people make fun of him.

While he is harsh with her, she never dismisses him. Could real 3D love be in the air?

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten and 3D Girlfriend are both romance anime where the main character is just another student in school, but they start a relationship with one of the most popular girls in school.

While 3D Girlfriend relies more on drama in its story, like The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten both shows have a strong emphasis on the characters being misunderstood and only their love interest truly understands them.

For Fans of Girlfriends Who Take Care of You

Shikimori protecting he boyfriend from a baseball in the Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie anime

Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie

Izumi is a normal guy, albeit with a predilection for attracting misfortune. However, the one piece of shining fortune in his life is his girlfriend, Shikimori.

She is beautiful, popular, and absolutely in love with him. However, everyone around them is often surprised by how cool and dashing Shikimori is rather than cute and girly.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten features a girlfriend who cooks, cleans, and looks cute in return for emotional support and head pats. Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie takes a different approach in that it features a girlfriend who is great at everything and protects her boyfriend from his own bad luck in return for emotional support and head pats.

In essence, both are romance anime about a perfect girlfriend and their relationship with a pretty average guy. They emphasize the wholesome elements of their relationships, but do have a bit of a different relationship dynamic.

my love story romance anime

My Love Story

With his tall stature, bulky muscles, and mean face, Takeo Gouda is not exactly a hit with the ladies. Men and women alike find him terrifying, but he still tries to do the right thing.

One day he saves a cute girl from a molester on the train. When she reaches out to him again, he thinks she likes his handsome friend, but he is shocked to discover she actually likes him!

If you enjoyed The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten because it was low drama about a new couple getting to know each other and diabetes-inducingly in love with each other, My Love Story also fully dedicates itself to that.

However, whereas The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten takes time getting the characters to actually admit their feelings while still acting like a couple in every other way, My Love Story gets over that quickly and comically so they can get right to doing cute couple things together.

engaged to the unidentified anime

Engaged to the Unidentified

On Kobeni Yonomori’s 16th birthday, it is discovered that her grandfather arranged for her to marry the mysterious Hakuya Mitsumine. Shocked, she now finds herself living with her future husband, his deceptive little sister, and her own perverted older sister.

However, Kobeni takes it in stride, adjusting to her new life and trying to learn more about the new additions.

While The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten and Engaged to the Identified are about a couple basically living together, the differences come in what each series dedicates itself to.

When you don’t use drama to drive a romantic plot, you either focus on cute moments like The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten or you focus on comedy like Engaged to the Unidentified.

While Engaged to the Unidentified has some cute moments between its stoic male love interest and a girl who is like a less popular Mahiru, it actually ends up being a better comedy series than a romance, but that’s not a bad thing.
