For Fans of Cute Pets
My Roommate Is A Cat
Subaru is a novelist, and not very good with people. He’s been alone since his parent’s death, but one day while praying at their grave, a cat comes and eats his offering.
Deciding to take it home, he now is shouldered with a cat, and this stray is shouldered with caring for a human who can barely care for himself.
Both Too Cute Crisis and My Roommate is a Cat follows people who are new cat owners. Their previously stray companions have a distinct personality that are explored in different ways.
While Too Cute Crisis portrays pets as animals with personalities, My Roommate is a Cat treats you to the inner monologue of both the cat and her owner, so you get both sides of the story.
One thing to keep in minds is that while My Roommate is a Cat is often a cute cat comedy, it can have some more serious moments to it since both the cat and the human have some damage.
Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga
Historically, Oda Nobunaga perished at Honnouji.
However, what you didn’t know is that he was reincarnated into the modern day as a Shiba dog named Cinnamon. He is eventually joined by other famous samurai who met the same fate in reincarnation.
While Too Cute Crisis focuses on a number of pets, Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga is a cute pet comedy dedicated solely to dogs. Or more specifically, dogs that are reincarnations of Feudal warlords.
What Too Cute Crisis has in its alien quirk, Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga has in its reincarnated warlord quirk. It is an added layer of comedy to the otherwise cute pet shenanigans.
Nyanko Days
Yuuko Konagi is and average high school student in every way. She gets average grades and her social awkwardness means she doesn’t make too many friends. However, she has a haven at home where her three cats wait for her.
These cats each have unique personalities as well as small bodies similar to humans with the ability to communicate with her. They provide Yuuko with all the companionship she needs.
Both Too Cute Crisis and Nyanko Days are cute comedies about cats. Too Cute Crisis expands to many different pets, but it is primarily a cat anime while Nyanko Days is only about cats that look like very small cat girls.
Both of these series are meant to be cute and rather wholesome comedies. They are for those that had a long day and just want to unwind with some moe shenanigans about pets.
I, Tsushima
One day, an old lady meets a stray cat rummaging through the trash for food. She decides to take him home and is surprised to learn that the cat’s name is Tsushima, and also that he can talk.
She adopts him nonetheless, but she is constantly at the mercy of his whims.
Too Cute Crisis explores other pets and their owners through the main character, but at its core, it is a comedy about an alien girl who bends to the will of a needy cat. I, Tsushima is also about a a cat that bends his new owner to his will.
However, while Yozora is needy, but nice, Tsushima is, well, more temperamental. If you enjoy your cat comedies, I, Tsushima is peak cat comedy.
Shiawase Apartment’s Okojo-san
Okojo-san was a ferret born in the mountains but brought to a pet shop to be sold. Okojo-san is determined to escape, and ends up using university student Haruka Tsuchiya to that end. While he brings Okojo-san home, the two are plagued by a number of strange events.
Too Cute Crisis and Shiawase Apartment’s Okojo-san are pet-based comedy anime. However, they are also more rare pet-based anime that shine at least a little light on other pets besides just cats and dogs.
While Shiawase Apartment’s Okojo-san doesn’t have aliens, it is still very much a gag comedy. It just isn’t supernatural-themed absurdity, it is normal weirdness.
How to Raise a Mummy
Sora’s father is an adventurer who, one day, sends him an odd package. Inside is the last thing he expected, a mummy so small it can fit in his hand.
Now with a gentle pet mummy that seeks attention, he takes inspiration and advice from other pet owners.
While How to Raise a Mummy is about keeping a little mummy as a pet, it lives in the same vein as Too Cute Crisis. Both anime enjoy their fluffy pet-based plots and are entirely focused on the cuteness of them.
Furthermore, despite being focused on a supernatural creature, both series are surprisingly focused on taking care of different animals and what pets need from us.
If you just want a wholesome slice of life anime about our relationship with pets, but don’t need it to necessarily focus on real creatures, this is a great option.

For Fans of Aliens Comically Among Us
The Little Lies We All Tell
At Kashihara Girls’ Academy, there are four students that seem like the best of friends. However, that is just a facade. In reality, they are four individuals, each with a secret they are trying to keep.
One is an alien, one is an ex-ninja, one is a weak telepath, and one is actually a boy pretending to be a girl. Watch them each masquerade as they struggled to keep their secret from their friends who are also keeping secrets.
While Too Cute Crisis is solely focused on the alien, The Little Lies We All Tell shares its focus among four girls who all have a different secret – one of which is an alien.
Both Too Cute Crisis and The Little Lies We All Tell are comedy series that are often about misunderstandings. While Too Cute Crisis makes ample time for cute pet shenanigans, both series have a light-hearted slice of life focus.
Urusei Yatsura
For skirt-chasing Ataru Moroboshi, the only notable thing about him is his extraordinary bad luck.
That luck kicks in when aliens suddenly invade Earth and he is chosen to represent humanity with their planet on the line. The duel for the fate of their planet ends up being a game of tag against the alien chief’s daughter, Lum.
While she is difficult to catch, eventually Ataru prevails by stealing her bikini top for the win.
However, his bad luck is at work again when Lum mistakes Ataru’s promise to marry his childhood friend as a proposal to her, which she has energetically accepted.
Both Too Cute Crisis and Urusei Yatsura follow an alien invasion that goes wildly wrong. Instead of invading, the aliens become enthralled by other things. In Too Cute Crisis, the alien becomes enamored with pets while in Urusei Yatsura, the alien becomes engaged to a human.
Urusei Yatsura is a romantic comedy with ecchi elements to it, but it puts more emphasis on comedy than most rom-coms. Both series often have plots that are mostly just silly slice of life adventures.
Cat Planet Cuties
One day, while attending a memorial service, Kio meets a beautiful cat girl named Eris. She is from the planet Catian to learn more about humanity. After their encounter, she decides to live with Kio. However, there are a number of those who seek to capture Eris.
While Too Cute Crisis follows aliens that have cat-like hair appendages, Cat Planet Cuties follows literal cat girl aliens.
Both series follow aliens who come to Earth and get into shenanigans with a small group of humans in their life. However, the major difference is that Cat Planet Cuties is a romantic comedy, and a pretty ecchi romantic comedy at that. Furthermore, it has a serious element where there is an organization trying to capture the alien.
Arakawa Under The Bridge
Kou Ichinomiya, as the son of a wealthy businessman, has vowed never to become indebted to anyone.
However, when he falls in the river under Arakawa Bridge, someone dives in to save him, thus he owes his life to this person. She is a homeless girl named Nino who wants only one thing – to fall in love.
In order to pay her back, he accepts her offer to be her boyfriend, thus moving out of his home and starting a new life under the bridge.
While Arakawa Under The Bridge falls under the “is she actually an alien?” sort of vagueness, both Too Cute Crisis and Arakawa Under The Bridge are comedies about aliens that live among us in a rather odd way.
While Too Cute Crisis sets itself to wholesome pet adventures, Awakawa Under The Bridge is a gag/absurd comedy where you never quite know what is going to happen next, but it is going to be weird and funny.
