While a yuri-baiting Cute Girls Doing Cute Things anime, Asteroid in Love keeps things wholesome and also interesting on the topics it is split between. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Asteroid in love, head on down below.

For Fans of Cute Girls Doing Cute Things Outside

non non biyori anime

Non Non Biyori

Asahigaoka is rural village in the middle of nowhere, and for the five students who go to school there, their days are all about keeping the boredom at bay.

All of different ages, the ways they entertain themselves never border on normal.

While Non Non Biyori doesn’t really have a school club to focus in the plot like Asteroid in Love, it follows a group of friendly girls just exploring their interests.

Asteroid in Love is occasionally atmospheric in its presentation of the night sky, but Non Non Biyori wants you to drink in the peaceful rural visuals. It gives them both a distinct peaceful appeal.

At their core, both anime are about cute girls being friends and having ambiguous feelings for each other.

laidback camp anime

Laid-Back Camp

After moving, Nadeshiko decides to go see Mount Fuji. She manages to bike pretty far, but has to turn back because of the weather and ends up fainting.

When she wakes up, she finds herself somewhere she has never been and no way to find her way back. It is in this wilderness where she is saved by Rin, a girl who was out camping by herself.

Asteroid in Love spends a lot of time outside with the girls exploring the earth and the sky, and Laid-Back Camp does the same thing. The girls go out, they camp, and have fun doing it.

Both series let the visuals and the character relationships be the real plot since there isn’t often much else driving either show.

encouragement of climb anime

Encouragement of Climb

Aoi Yukimura has loved mountains since she was a kid, but a playground accident left her afraid of heights.

Now a timid first year high school student, she is practically friendless until she reconnects with the lively Hinata.

As an old friend from her climbing days, Hinata fosters a change in Aoi’s world that leads her back to the mountains she loves.

Both Asteroid in Love and Encouragement of Climb are Cute Girls Doing Cute Things school club anime where that club has a particular focus towards outdoor activities.

Furthermore, the plot surrounds a main character reconnecting with someone from their childhood to great effect. It is their shared passion that revives the friendship and helps them make new friends.

do it yourself anime

Do It Yourself

After the Fourth Industrial Revolution, cutting edge technologies have taken over and the old way of doing things is left in the dust. For childhood friends Serufu Yua and Miku Suride, they both applied to the elite Yuyu Girls’ Vocational High School that excels in teaching new technology.

However, due to her grades, care-free accident-magnet Yua could only get into the neighboring Gatagata Girls’ High School.

After getting into an bike accident, Yua has a run in with a passerby who fixes her bike effortlessly and later finds out that she is a member of the Do It Yourself Club. With the club in danger of shutting down due to a lack of members and becoming enchanted by the old way of fixing and building things, Yua hopes to gather new friendships and build new crafts by joining it.

Both Asteroid in Love and Do It Yourself follow school clubs that attract members for multiple different reasons. Asteroid in Love follows a club that is a combination of two clubs into one while Do It Yourself has a club that has a more broad subject matter of just doing things by hand and repairing old broken items.

Both anime series are distinctly Cute Girls Doing Cute Things school club anime, but Do It Yourself has a cast with more diverse personalities where the characters are a bit more realistically flawed and not always focused on being moe.

For Fans of Girl’s Love Bait

sound euphonium anime

Sound! Euphonium

Swearing off music after a certain incident, euphonist Kumiko enter high school looking for a fresh start.

However, it turns out she is surrounded by people with a passion for instruments that end up dragging her into a band aiming for nationals, and not a very good band at that.

Like Asteroid in Love sparks some debate on whether it is a girl’s love series or not, Sound! Euphonium sparked outright controversy when it turns out that the strong yuri-baiting relationship between the two female main characters wasn’t actually a romantic one.

Both series are Cute Girls Doing Cute Things anime where the focus is on a school club that pretty much has to start from nothing. You watch the two main characters become increasingly close to each other, and watch everyone around them comment on that.

tamayura anime

Tamayura

Sawatari Fuu is an aspiring photographer. She spends her time by the Seto Inland Sea taking pictures of her friends.

She is especially pleased when she is able to capture tamayura, small orbs of light that appear when her subjects are especially content.

Tamayura is a little less moe in art style, but this photography-focused series is still very much Cute Girls Doing Cute Things. Furthermore, like Asteroid in Love, there is a lot ship-bait in the relationships between the various girls in the series.

Asteroid in Love shows the girls clear passion towards Astronomy or Geology, but Tamayura is solely focused on the passion the main character has for photography.

slow loop anime fishing

Slow Loop

As a young girl, Hiyori’s father taught her the joys of fly fishing. Even after he unexpectedly passed away, she still uses fishing as a way to feel connected to him.

One day while fishing, she meets and energetic new girl in town named Koharu who ends up fishing and eating said fish together. However, when she returns home, she discovers that Koharu is also her new step-sister.

There is some debate as to if Asteroid in Love is girl’s love-baiting, actually girl’s love, or just a nice anime about female friendship. Slow Loop is a series that also has some of that same ambiguity. The close blossoming relationship between new step-sisters can be inferred either way by the audience.

Slow Loop and Asteroid in Love also follows girls that enjoy outdoor activities growing closer. The element they most have in common is that the relationship between the two girls is drawing the more subdued personality out of her shell. Mira brings Ao out of her shell, and Koharu draws out Hiyori.

For Fans of Stargazing

at the mercy of the sky anime

At the Mercy of the Sky

After moving away for seven years, Saku Ooyagi returns to his hometown and reconnects with Mihoshi Akeno. While things are awkward due to how they parted in the past at first, Akeno is determined to recruit Ooyagi into the Astronomy Club that she founded.

Both Asteroid in Love and At the Mercy of the Sky follow the stargazing adventures of the Astronomy Club. However, Asteroid in Love has the club have a split focus with geology, so it isn’t all stargazing.

Regardless, if the stars captured your interest in Asteroid in Love, At the Mercy of the Sky explores that in more detail. Although, it is more a romance anime and not Cute Girls Doing Cute Things.

insomniacs after school anime

Insomniacs After School

Every night, Ganta Nakami is overtaken by insomnia that leaves him grumpy during the day. However, he happens across the easygoing Isaki Magari from his class sleeping in the Astronomy Club’s abandoned, supposedly haunted observatory. It turns out that she, too, suffers from insomnia and uses this room to sneak away for naps.

While the pair at first agree to share sneaking naps in the observatory, they are soon caught. In order to preserve their beloved nap spot, they persuade the school to let them revive the Astronomy Club where they soon share a growing love for the stars as well as each other.

Asteroid in Love and Insomniacs After School are both series about a newly revived Astronomy Club.

However, while Asteroid in Love is Cute Girls Doing Cute Things and also has a split-focus with geology, Insomniacs After School is a coming-of-age romance with a strong focus on the characters also falling in love with stargazing.

Wish Upon the Pleiades anime

Wish Upon the Pleiades

Hoping to view a meteor shower, Subaru heads to her school’s observation room. However, when she opens the door, she finds a lavish garden and a mysterious red -haired boy. That vision soon disappeared, but a bouncing blob remains as proof that it wasn’t just Subaru imagining things.

This blob leads her to a series of magical girls, one of which is Aoi, Subaru’s childhood friend. Aoi informs her that the blob is an alien species known as the Pleiadians, who is trying to get home, and that Subaru was selected to help them.

Together, they attempt to gather the Pleiadian spacecraft engine, but they are not the only ones after engine parts.

Think of Wish Upon The Pleiades as Asteroid in Love if the characters were magical girls instead of just a normal Earth Sciences Club.

Both series are Cute Girls Doing Cute Things with a large focus on the stars. Furthermore, they are both about childhood friends reconnecting with each other.

Of course, as a magical girl anime, Wish Upon The Pleiades has more action.
