After an encounter in the library where she teased him about his manga, Naoto Hachijouji is relentlessly teased by a younger first year girl named Nagatoro. She takes every opportunity to toy with him and leave him embarrassed, but over time, he has found a friendship was built between them.
Not the first teasing anime, but even before this was animated, I knew some of the teasing in it bordered on criminal. Buuuut, if you don’t think too hard about it, it is pretty cute. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, then head on down below.
Anime Like Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro
For Fans of Teasing
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out
Sakurai Shinichi just wants a little peace and quiet, but after he meets a kouhai, Uzaki Hana, from his old high school swim club at university, she wants to hang out. This peppy, loud, and well endowed woman just wants to spend time together and tease him. Will Shinichi get the peace and quiet he desires? No.
It’s essentially the same series, but in Uzaki, the characters are older, the main character has a spine, and Uzaki is usually a bit nicer.
Skilled Teaser Takagi-san
For Nishikata, no one knows him better than Takagi-san. Unfortunately for him, she uses this knowledge to unrelentingly tease him on a daily basis. Nishikata vows to get revenge for all that blushing he has done, but is he good enough to overcome her skill?
This is also much the same series, except the characters are younger, it doesn’t have any lewd teasing, and despite how mean Takagi can be, it is a rather wholesome show.
How Clumsy You Are, Ueno-san
Third year Junior High student Ueno is in love with the concept of falling in love. As such, she is driven to create love inventions and tests them out on her kohai.
This has the similar sort of concept and has a way of sometimes going probably too far. Because of the nature of Ueno, things end up more lewd.
For Fans of Tan Girls/”Gals”
My First Girlfriend is a Gal
Although he has reached the spring of his youth, Junichi is finding it harder than expected to get a girlfriend, but that is due in no small part to his friends brazen habit of reading dirty magazines in class. In order to “help” him, his virgin friends submitted a love letter in his name to the resident gyaru of his class, Yame Yukana. However, while she may dress like a gal, this tough-looking girl is actually as pure as the snow.
While Nagatoro isn’t necessarily a gal/gyaru, it is pretty clear that her friends are and she leans that way. In My First Girlfriend is a Gal, the love interest looks like a gal, but lacks the perceived loose attitude. She is actually rather innocent. However, you still get that fix of gal-like teasing from her friend.
3D Girlfriend
Tsusui Hikari is an otaku that mostly avoids social life. He only really has one friend at school and is otherwise mocked by his classmates. One day, he ends up having to clean the pool with Igarashi Iroha. She is blunt, truant, and a troublemaker, but she stands up for Hikari when people make fun of him. While he is harsh with her, she never dismisses him. Could real 3D love be in the air?
Both series have rather popular girls that take an interest in your standard outcast male main character, and then clearly develop feelings for them. However, while Iroha looks like she could be pretty mean, she is actually really quite nice to the main character.
How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?
Hibiki, who has a great love of food, notices her clothes are starting to get tight. To fix that, she decides to enroll in a gym. At one, she meets a classmate named Akemi. Akemi, who likes the gym because of the abundance of buff dudes, tries to convince her to join. However, it is the beautiful trainer Machio that really convinces Hibiki to join their gym.
This one, if I am being honest, is fully just for people who enjoyed seeing a tanned girl character and want more of that. Dumbbells is an exercise-based comedy that takes place in short skits, but lacks the same element of bullying that Nagatoro focuses on.
For Fans of Weak-Willed Male Main Characters
Rent-a-Girlfriend
Recently dumped by his girlfriend, college student Kazuya Kinoshita tries to fill the void with an app that lets him rent a girlfriend. While Chizuru seems like the perfect girlfriend, reading the reviews online, he finds out it is an act. He leaves her a bad review and this reveals her more sassy true self when she comes after him for it. Unfortunately, after his grandmother’s collapse, he introduces her as his girlfriend at the hospital, and thus they begin their fake relationship.
While the girls in Rent-a-Girlfriend don’t necessarily bully like Nagatoro does, what the series does have in common is a rather spineless protagonist that sort of doesn’t really stand up for himself in any situation.
Golden Time
Banri Tada has finally been accepted into a private law academy in Tokyo, but due to an accident, he is without all his memories. During his freshmen orientation, he meets Mitsuo Yanagisawa who is consummately stalked by Kouko Kaga, a girl from his old school. Banri begins to hit it off with both of them. As they spend more time together, their fates seem intertwined, but for better or worse?
While Banri might not be the same sort of weak-willed that Senpai is, Kouko is definitely the strong will of the show. Like Nagatoro, she comes in like a hurricane and dominates everything.
Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki-kun
Fumiya Tomozaki is the top player in Japan at a fighting game called TackFam. Despite holding such a title, he is a failure at everything else, blaming it on the unfair rules and mechanics of life. One day, the second best TackFam player asks to meet up. Tomozaki discovers that they are actually Aoi, one of the most popular girls at school. She, however, is disappointed that someone she respected is a failure at life. Now, she aims to teach him how to succeed at the glorious game of life.
Both series follow a rather unpopular guy that finds himself surrounded by beautiful, popular girls for various reasons. However, the other girls are more prevalent in Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki-kun while Nagatoro’s friends are just a sometimes thing.

This doesnt touch on why I enjoyed Nagatoro at all! I loved that it was a really slow low key romance and it was adorable that both of them are just hella adorable. It was a lot of fun to decipher Nagatoro’s key words where she was really just praising Senpai but using teasing words
It was also really well written in how Nagatoro adopted some behavior from Senpai and vice versa over time.
it was adorable that both of them are just hella embaressed and shy.
