Anime Like Full Dive: The Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life!

Rather average high school student Hiro Yuuki obtains a copy of the full dive RPG game called Kiwame Quest. This game is uses the pinnacle of gaming technology to create an experience as close to real life as possible. Unfortunately, while the sights, smells, and sensations are very realistic, it does make it a difficult game to beat. For players, their real life abilities are reflected in game and being hit also leaves serious wounds on your character that hurt and heal slowly. It is not a game for casuals, but with a supreme sense of accomplishment on the line for beating it, who could say no?

It was only a matter of time before the Dark Souls fans demanded a VRMMO anime series. If you crave more anime recommendations like Full Dive: The Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life, then head on down below.

For Fans of Fantasy Comedies

the hero is overly cautious anime

Cautious Hero – The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious

In the divine realm, Gods and Goddesses are assigned worlds in peril to summon heroes to guide on their quest to save those worlds. The Goddess of Healing, Ristarte, is assigned a difficult S-class world and told to pick a hero to defeat the Demon King. While her choices are underwhelming, one low level hero with super stats catches her eye! Seiya Ryuuguuin is indeed a powerful hero, but he also has the problematic quirk of being overly cautious. His desire to stay on the safe side, over-preparing and over-training for all encounters, is a source of frustration for all.

Both Cautious Hero and Full Dive share an author. However, while Cautious Hero is a great comedy that gets unexpectedly serious, Full Dive is a mostly serious anime that occasionally takes breaks for comedy. The biggest similarity between the two is the main character’s comically difficult relationship with literally everyone.

the devil is a part timer anime

The Devil Is a Part-Timer

Right on the verge of taking over the world, evil Demon Lord Satan was foiled by the hero Emilia and was forced to retreat through a dimensional portal. He ends up in this world where he is without powers and without money. In order to pay his way, he gets a part-timer job slinging fast food.

Essentially, The Devil is a Part-Timer and Full Dive take premises that are well overused, and do something new with them. Full Dive takes that VRMMO thing and makes it comedy Dark Souls while The Devil is a Part-Timer takes the whole isekai’d to fight a demon lord plot and brings the demon lord to our world.

combatants will be dispatched anime

Combatants Will Be Dispatched

On Earth, the villainous Kisaragi Corporation has finally conquered everything, but they have their eye on the entire universe. Having finally created a transporter, they send agent Roku-gou to the kingdom of Grace where he is to infiltrate and eventually conquer the kingdom for the corporation. Of course, to ensure the success of one of their more disposable agents, they send with him Alice, an exceptional android, to make sure the mission is carried out. Finally arriving, Roku-gou and Alice end up infiltrating the inner circle of the kingdom and helping them secure victory against an invading Demon Lord.

Both series take tired genres and attempt to do something new – and funny – with them. Both series have plots that they follow, but they also know to take a lot of time out for levity as well.

For Fans of Difficult Fantasy Worlds

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash anime

Grimgar of Ash and Fantasy

Thrown into a fantasy land with no memories of their previous life, the strong among this new group of people bind together while the weak are left to fend for themselves. Grimgar tells the tale of the struggles of the weak as they pick up combat skills and fight the creatures of the world in order to earn a living.

Do you enjoy watching the struggle? Because both Grimgar and Full Dive are full of struggle in a fantasy setting. The difference is that they are stuck in Grimgar since it is not a VRMMO-sort of affair. Grimgar is also more on the dramatic side.

the rising of the shield hero anime

The Rising of the Shield Hero

The stories tell of four heroes summoned from another world – the sword, spear, bow, and shield heroes who will prevent calamity. With darkness bearing down on them, the Kingdom of Melromarc summons these heroes from modern day Japan. For otaku Naofumi Iwatani, unfortunately he is labeled the shield hero, the weakest of the group. Worse yet, betrayal sees him labeled as a criminal and outcasted. With hatred and vengeance consuming him, he sets forth to grow strong.

Like Full Dive, The Rising of the Shield Hero features a main character that had to struggle for every scrap. However, unlike Full Dive, it doesn’t put as much of a focus on comedy. It maintains a mostly serious tone throughout.

im standing on a million lives anime

I’m Standing on a Million Lives

Bored with the world that surrounds him, loner Yotsuya Yusuke is one day transported to a new world with two girls from his class. There he finds out that they have been playing a game with ten increasingly difficult rounds. After beating each round, they get to pose a question to the game master before heading back home. On this, the third round, Yusuke finds himself excited for the first time in a long time, only for his battle class to be rolled as a weak farmer. Together with his teammates, they struggle to survive and move forward or face certain death.

I’m Standing on a Million Lives is much like what Full Dive would be if it were serious all the time. The main character is damaged and unlikable, but undergoes real growth from his experiences.

For Fans of Comically Flawed Characters

anime series like konosuba

Konosuba

On his way back from buying a new game, Kazuma Satou died a pathetic death. However, he awakens before the Goddess Aqua who gives him two choices: go to heaven or reincarnate into an actual fantasy world. Naturally, the gamer picks the fantasy world. Now Kazuma must deal with defeating an evil demon king, useless party members, and paying living expenses.

Both series can be described as “misadventures,” wherein the standard fantasy.game experience goes so awry that it is comical. The humor is unexpected but top-tier, and the moments they try to be serious are underwhelming.

senyuu anime

Senyuu

It has been a thousand years since the demon lord was sealed away by the legendary hero Creasion. However, when the demons return, it is decided that the demon lord would soon return as well. Now it is up to the great hero’s descendants – all 75 of them – to seal him away again. Unfortunately, most of their skills are not what you would call top-notch.

If you like standard plots, but done with a huge focus on comedy, then Senyuu is for you. It is that standard fantasy world-saving plot, but everything is just jokes. Since it has short-form episodes, Senyuu doesn’t have a lot of time to flesh out a plot, though.

anime series like is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon

Is It Wrong To Try And Pick up Girls in a Dungeon?

In the fantasy city of Orario, there is a massive labyrinth underneath it. For brave adventurers, glory and fortune can be found within. However, in order to tackle the challenging monsters inside, adventurers join guilds of strong gods and goddesses. However, for newbie adventurer Bell Cranel, no good guild will have him, except for Hestia, a goddess with no followers. Together they team up to grow strong and find glory.

Full Dive has been faulted by some because it tends to shift between comedy and serious plot often and not always well. However, if you do like that levity but also still want something going on, Is It Wrong To Try And Pick up Girls in a Dungeon is a great choice. It has fun and stupid moments, but it also has some pretty epic battles, too.
