Genzo from Kemono Michi together with his harem of kemonomimi

Anime Like Kemono Michi

Shibata Genzo is both a professional wrestler and an animal lover. One day, he is summoned to another world by a princess. She makes the mistake of asking him to rid her kingdom of these evil beasts. Instead of doing that, Genzo suplexes her and heads off to start a monster pet shop.

This series is solid proof that if the comedy is strong enough, you don’t really need anything else. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Kemono Michi, then head on down below.

For Fans of Low-Plot Isekai Comedies

Konosuba

On his way back from buying a new game, Kazuma Satou died a pathetic death. However, he awakens before the Goddess Aqua who gives him two choices: go to heaven or reincarnate into an actual fantasy world. Naturally, the gamer picks the fantasy world. Now Kazuma must deal with defeating an evil demon king, useless party members, and paying living expenses.

Both Konosuba and Kemono Michi share an author, and that author has a particular passion for comedy through comically flawed characters. Both series follow somewhat capable main characters who are accompanied by companions with some pretty serious flaws that pushed others away from them.

combatants will be dispatched anime

Combatants Will be Dispatched

On Earth, the villainous Kisaragi Corporation has finally conquered everything, but they have their eye on the entire universe. Having finally created a transporter, they send agent Roku-gou to the kingdom of Grace where he is to infiltrate and eventually conquer the kingdom for the corporation. Of course, to ensure the success of one of their more disposable agents, they send with him Alice, an exceptional android, to make sure the mission is carried out. Finally arriving, Roku-gou and Alice end up infiltrating the inner circle of the kingdom and helping them secure victory against an invading Demon Lord.

Like Konosuba and Kemono Michi, Combatants Will Be Dispatched is also made by the same author, and that author loves the same type of comedy in all their series. While not quite as “isekai” as Kemono Michi, Combatants Will Be Dispatched gets a good deal of its comedy from flawed characters fumbling through their adventures. However, Roku-gou isn’t as wholesome in his antics as Genzo.

do you love your mom anime

Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?

After finishing a random survey, Masato becomes involved in a government scheme that transports him inside of a game. Excited to begin his new life as an adventurer, he is thoroughly disappointed when his mother Mamako ends up being there as well. Eventually giving in to her companionship, they start their journey.

Both series are isekai that have been turned an odd direction purely to make people laugh. Although, Do You Like Your Mother can be uncomfortable at times with the way his mother clings.

cautious hero anime

Cautious Hero – The Hero is Overpowered But is Overly Cautious

In the divine realm, Gods and Goddesses are assigned worlds in peril to summon heroes to guide on their quest to save those worlds. The Goddess of Healing, Ristarte, is assigned a difficult S-class world and told to pick a hero to defeat the Demon King. While her choices are underwhelming, one low level hero with super stats catches her eye! Seiya Ryuuguuin is indeed a powerful hero, but he also has the problematic quirk of being overly cautious. His desire to stay on the safe side, over-preparing and over-training for all encounters, is a source of frustration for all.

Both Cautious Hero and Kemono Michi have a similar sort of hook. The main characters were summoned to be heroes, but end up as inconveniences who do their own thing instead, vexing their summoners with their specific quirks. Cautious Hero does have him staying with the woman who summoned him, however.

Ryouma from the By the Grace of the Gods anime giving commands to his slimes

By The Grace of the Gods

After leading a miserable life, Ryouma Takebayashi passes away at age 39. Three deities, taking pity on him, reincarnate him into a fantasy world with an aptitude for magic, telling him to enjoy life and that they will always watch out for him. With his newfound existence, he spends it studying slimes, amassing a slime army, and learning some magic, but he misses humanity. Being persuaded to join a group of travelers, Ryouma’s new world opens up for him.

While By the Grace of the Gods has a low intensity plot that plays out similar to other wish fulfillment-type isekai series, it does share some things with Kemono Michi. The first is that the main character is gifted in using his magic to tame monsters, though he has a primary focus on slimes. The second similarity is that both main characters are both extremely wholesome and likable instead of edgy or boring.

For Fans of Wrestling

tiger mask w

Tiger Mask W

After the destruction of their dojo, two wrestlers went their separate ways. Naoto Azuma took over the training facilities at the base of Mount Fuji belonging to the legendary Naoto Date as well as took up his legendary tiger mask. Takuma Fujii, however, enters the underground wrestling competition of Tiger’s Lair, fighting his way through the ranks and gaining a jet-black tiger mask. These two tigers, walking separate paths, are destined to meet again in the ring.

If you love Kemono Michi, you should at least watch the anime that very clearly inspired his wrestling persona. Tiger Mask W is a reboot of the older original series and has a separate plot so you can still watch the series with the nice animation without having to watch anything previous to it. However, unlike silly Kemono Michi, Tiger Mask W treats itself as wholly serious.

wanna be the strongest in the world anime

Wanna Be The Strongest in The World

Sakura and Elena are the stars of their popular idol group, Sweet Diva. However, one day Elena is attacked by a female pro-wrestler named Rio during a TV appearance. To avenge Elena, Sakura enters the world of female pro-wrestling.

Both of these series use wrestling within their very silly comedy plots. Aside from not being an isekai series, the most notable difference in Wanna Be The Strongest in The World is that it is an ecchi comedy with all girls.

For Fans of Fantasy Job-Based Comedies

outbreak company anime

Outbreak Company

With parents that write light novels and draw eroge, Kanou Shinichi was born to be an otaku. One day, he finds himself transported to a fantasy world full of elves and dragons. In this world he is given a quest, not to fight monsters, but to become a moe missionary to teach everyone on the finer points of being an otaku.

Both series are isekai anime where the main character has a passion and follows that in the new world. Both series put little to no effort towards complex plot, but are, if nothing else, rather relaxing comedy shows because of it.

the devil is a part timer anime

The Devil is a Part Timer

Right on the verge of taking over the world, evil Demon Lord Satan was foiled by the hero Emilia and was forced to retreat through a dimensional portal. He ends up in this world where he is without powers and without money. In order to pay his way, he gets a part-timer job slinging fast food.

Although The Devil is a Part Timer is a reverse isekai series, it is also a comedic one. Both series often focus on laughs via slice of life situations that seem absurd given the characters involved.

zombieland saga anime

Zombieland Saga

For Sakura Minamoto, she started her day off normally, right up until she skipped outside and got hit by a speeding truck. She died, of course, but 10 years later, she wakes up as… a zombie. However, her story is just beginning as a man wants her and several other undead girls from throughout Japan’s history to become a regional idol group to save Saga from becoming an obscure prefecture.

These series in terms of plot, setting, and even characters have very little to do with each other. However, they have a similar – and effective – approach to comedy. They both relish in unexpected, but often repeated jokes that disarm otherwise serious situations.

For Fans of Varied Fantasy Creatures

that time i got reincarnated as a slime anime

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

After a run in with a robber, the 37-year-old Satoru is suddenly killed. He is reincarnated into a fantasy land, but not as a man. In fact, he is no longer even human! He is reincarnated as a lowly slime. After wandering, he comes across a dragon who he befriends and who gives him the new name of Rimuru. Absorbing this dragon into his slime body, promising to eventually break the seal that has bound him, gives Rimuru great magical ability. He then continues to inadvertently befriend beleaguered fantasy creatures in the forest who are constantly threatened by humanity. Eventually, he decides to found a nation uniting these creatures in order to help them protect themselves.

Both series are isekai anime that sort of flip the script. Instead of getting involved with the heroes, the protagonists take to the other side instead – the side of the monsters. However, whereas Kemono Michi is just fun comedy and slice of life, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has a detailed plot that it explores.

heavans design team anime

Heaven’s Design Team

In the beginning, god created the heavens and the earth. Next came the long job of creating creatures to populate the earth. However, by then, god was tired so he outsourced it to a small team. This Heaven’s Design Team features a mediator that speaks to god as well as creative individuals to help create creatures to fill the Earth.

While Heaven’s Design Team isn’t an isekai series, like Kemono Michi, it is a series about people that can be seriously passionate about animals – both real and of fantasy. Like Kemono Michi is prone to Genzo nerding out about a creature’s various aspects, so, too, do the creators gush over their various creations.

immoral guild anime

Immoral Guild

Kikuru Madan is a monster hunter and has built up an impressive reputation in his guild. However, after receiving a notification that his old friend had gotten married, he realized he has wasted his youth without even getting a girlfriend. Now he seeks to retire from monster hunting to find a girlfriend, but before he does, he must train a suitable successor.

Did you ever wish that, during the monster-based adventures in Kemono Michi, that the monsters would hold down any one of Genzo’s female companions and do lewd things to them? No? Well, then Immoral Guild isn’t for you since that is the entire premise of this very, very ecchi comedy. No plot, just girls going out and getting molested by monsters until they are saved. It does have a nice variety of fantasy creatures, however. It also features a lot of comically flawed characters as well. Both of which are what make it similar to Kemono Michi, despite the ecchi.

beast tamer anime

Beast Tamer

Rein is a beast tamer and member of the Hero’s Party. However, because beast taming is rather weak magic, he is used as more of a errand boy for them instead. That all changes when they finally fire him and he is set adrift. Kicked out of the party, he ends up meeting a girl from one of the strongest species of beast people and tames her. Together, they become magnificent adventurers while the Hero’s Party begins to realize that their previous success was all due to Rein’s support.

Very obviously, both series are about main characters that have a particular talent and passion for taming animals. However, Beast Tamer has the large bulk of his ability put towards taming animal girls to help him fight. Both series really love animal girl companions and are actually pretty wholesome fantasy comedies with main characters that have big, soft hearts.
