Anime Like In the Land of Leadale

After an accident put her on life support, Keina took up playing the VRMMO game, World of Leadale. After a power outage at the hospital, she wakes up fully inside the game as her avatar, Cayna. Furthermore, it seems that 200 years have passed since she last played and no other player characters can be found.

After so many “isekai but with this super unique twist” shows, it’s nice to see one very content in just being an isekai about just aimlessly adventuring. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like In the Land of Leadale, then head on down below.

didnt i say to make my abilities average in the next life anime

Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?

Because of her exceptional abilities, Misato Kurihara never got to live a normal life. However, after her sudden death, she is offered reincarnation and one wish. Her wish is to have average abilities so that she can live an average life. Unfortunately, reincarnated as a noble’s daughter, she still has impressive magic ability. Determined to still have her normal life, she flees to a far away hunter school and attempts to hide her abilities.

While they are both different sorts of isekai stories, they ultimately end up the same way – cute girls just going on various adventures. There isn’t much action in either of them, but there is a significant amount of comedy and lovable characters.

by the grace of the gods anime series

By The Grace of the Gods

After leading a miserable life, Ryouma Takebayashi passes away at age 39. Three deities, taking pity on him, reincarnate him into a fantasy world with an aptitude for magic, telling him to enjoy life and that they will always watch out for him. With his newfound existence, he spends it studying slimes, amassing a slime army, and learning some magic, but he misses humanity. Being persuaded to join a group of travelers, Ryouma’s new world opens up for him.

While By the Grace of the Gods has a male main character, he possesses an even temper and an excellent attitude that makes him just as likable as Keina. As they both have memories of their previous life, you follow them in both shows as they discover the new world they are part of in a low action, slice of life sort of way.

the saints magic power is omnipotent anime

The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent

Sei, a young office worker, is summoned to a new world. However, the people who summoned her to banish dark magic from the world only meant to summon one person they would call Saint. Instead, they summoned two, and Sei discovers that they actually like the other girl better. Not really caring about that, she ends up making potions at a research institute using her newfound magic. Unfortunately, while she is unexpectedly talented at her work and happy doing it, she begins to think that she is indeed the Saint.

Both series are quality isekai series following a female protagonist. The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent does have a more serious plot that it embraces as time goes on, but much of it is just the main character doing whatever she wants in her fantastic and low stress fantasy world. It does have more shoujo romance vibes to it, though.

Ive Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level anime

I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level

Dying from overwork, Azusa Aizawa is allowed to reincarnate into a new world as a witch that will live forever. Wanting to never be overworked again, she leisurely kills slimes in order to pay for living expenses. However, this meager amount of XP stacks over 300 years of doing it, and she finds herself at max level. Fearing someone will try to thrust work upon her, she decides to try and hide her strength.

Both shows tell a similar type of tale about girls being reincarnated into a fantasy land, and then just doing what pleases them. As such an amount of time passes, the main characters become somewhat a legend in their world.

overlord anime

Overlord

As the final hour approaches the life cycle of the MMO Yggdrasil, Momonga, a powerful wizard and leader of the dark guild Ainz Ooal Gown, is there to see it off. However, to his surprise, the servers don’t go down and even stranger is that all the NPC characters have come alive with their own unique personalities.

Overlord is an isekai that takes itself more seriously, and as such is has more thoughtful and drawn out action as well as plot and politics. However, what it most has in common with the more slice of life In The Land of Leadale is that you watch the main character interact with all the game characters they created. While that focus shifts as Overlord goes on, it is an interesting element of it.

kuma kuma kuma bear anime

Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear

Yuna much prefers staying home and playing her favorite VRMMO instead of going to school. During an update, she receives a strange and powerful bear outfit. It was overpowered, but too embarrassing to wear in-game. However, she finds herself suddenly transported to the world of the game, and her bear suit becomes her best chance of surviving.

While less melancholy than a girl dying and being sent in her MMO, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear is still pretty much that minus the acknowledgment of dying. Regardless, both follow cute female characters where their game world is now their new reality. They are overwhelmingly strong as well, so drawn out action isn’t really a thing.

my next life as a villainess anime

My Next Life as a Villainess – All Routes Lead to Doom!

At eight years old, Katarina Claes, the only daughter of a duke, hits her head and suddenly remembers she was once a seventeen-year-old otaku that got isekai’d. She realizes that she is now in the world of Fortune Lover, the otome game that she had been playing before her death. Unfortunately, she is not the heroine, but rather the villainess who usually ends up dead or exiled at the end. As such, she endeavors to change her fate and avoid all doom flags.

While My Next Life as a Villainess features a girl going in her otome game, it merits mentioning simply because, like In The Land of Leadale, its about a girl who dies and ends up a character in her favorite game. Both are cute slice of life shows, but My Next Life as a Villainess is more romance-oriented.

bofuri anime

Bofuri – I Didn’t Want to Get Hurt, So I’ll Maxed Out My Defense

After receiving an invitation from a friend, Kaede Honjou starts playing the VRMMO game New World Online as a character named Maple. However, in her desire to not get hurt, she puts all her stats in Vitality. This makes her move very slowly, unable to use magic, and get attacked by even the smallest creatures. However, it does allow her impenetrable defense and her gear she finds while wandering grants her a one-hit counter skill. And so, her adventures begin.

No one is stuck in the MMO in Bofuri, which makes it innately different. However, it strongly merits mentioning because it, like In The Land of Leadale, is very cute. They are both shows about cute girls just smiling as they stomp others with overwhelming force.

For Fans of Slice of Life Fantasy

Banished From The Heros Party I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside

Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside

Red was once the member of a hero’s party that sought to destroy the Demon Lord Taraxon. However, while Red was powerful at first, his companions soon eclipsed him, and thus, pushed him out of the party. Hoping for a more laid-back life, he moves to the country with a dream to start an apothecary. He hopes to keep his past as an adventurer a secret, but that becomes increasingly more difficult when an adventurer named Rit from his past asks to move in with him.

Whereas In The Land of Leadale embraces moe, Banished From The Hero’s Party is more of a slice of life, slow-moving romance. They both feature characters working towards life goals, or sometimes just doing as they please in a fantasy setting. They are both also notable for being relaxing, but also strangely enough, having melancholic moments to them.

journey of elaina anime

Wandering Witch – The Journey of Elaina

Ever since she was a child, Elaina has been enamored by the stories in her favorite book. It tells the tale of Nike, a famous witch who enjoyed many great adventures around the world. After becoming a fully-fledged witch herself, she departs, becoming entangled in a number of stories of those she meets around the world.

Wandering Witch is notably different for being a little more refined in its storytelling. It takes the short stories it displays seriously. While the main characters in both series keep things cute and lovable, they both showcase the more slice of life side to adventure.

Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a New Starter Town anime

Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a New Starter Town?

In ancient times, those who save humanity settled outside of the infamous Last Dungeon. Their descendants have all been strong enough to survive in the area by building a community. Lloyd is one such descendant, but the weakest in the village. Hoping to grow strong, he heads to the Kingdom of Azami to enroll in their military academy. However, in this starter zone, Lloyd’s powers seem otherworldly to everyone around him.

Both shows take a more lackadaisical approach to fantasy – a genre typically leaning towards more serious action. The major theme in each show is that the main character is so powerful they simply just crush any obstacle in their path and it earns them the comical admiration of everyone.
