Yuna much prefers staying home and playing her favorite VRMMO instead of going to school. During an update, she receives a strange and powerful bear outfit. It was overpowered, but too embarrassing to wear in-game. However, she finds herself suddenly transported to the world of the game, and her bear suit becomes her best chance of surviving.
Cute, but ultimately unambitious, this is another one for the cute isekai pile. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, then head on down below.

For Fans of Cute Isekai
Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense
After receiving an invitation from a friend, Kaede Honjou starts playing the VRMMO game New World Online as a character named Maple. However, in her desire to not get hurt, she puts all her stats in Vitality. This makes her move very slowly, unable to use magic, and get attacked by even the smallest creatures. However, it does allow her impenetrable defense and her gear she finds while wandering grants her a one-hit counter skill. And so, her adventures begin.
Both series are about cute MMOs where the point of the series is not action-packed fights, but rather abstract silly antics. What’s charming is both shows could simply be cute girls doing cute things, but they do use their settings cleverly.
Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?
Because of her exceptional abilities, Misato Kurihara never got to live a normal life. However, after her sudden death, she is offered reincarnation and one wish. Her wish is to have average abilities so that she can live an average life. Unfortunately, reincarnated as a noble’s daughter, she still has impressive magic ability. Determined to still have her normal life, she flees to a far away hunter school and attempts to hide her abilities.
Both shows are about two girls that find themselves in a fantasy setting, but not in the circumstances that they would want. One girl wanted to be unremarkable in her new fantasy life while another would have preferred stronger powers.
Endro
Every generation, a demon lord rises and a hero is born to challenge them. However, as the chosen hero and her party are fighting the demon lord, she casts a spell that sets them adrift in time. They are transported to before the demon lord has risen and the hero is still in school. With their memories erased, they begin their training anew. However, the demon lord has also been transported and enrolls herself in school.
Endro and Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear have one goal – to be cute. They are both set in an isekai sort of fantasy and their really isn’t much of a plot rather than slice of life antics. Kuma has a bit more plot to it than the silliness of Endro, though.
For Fans of a Main Character That Looks Weak But is OP
By the Grace of the Gods
After leading a miserable life, Ryouma Takebayashi passes away at age 39. Three deities, taking pity on him, reincarnate him into a fantasy world with an aptitude for magic, telling him to enjoy life and that they will always watch out for him. With his newfound existence, he spends it studying slimes, amassing a slime army, and learning some magic, but he misses humanity. Being persuaded to join a group of travelers, Ryouma’s new world opens up for him.
While it happens in different ways, both series follow young characters sent to a new fantasy world. While they are incredibly powerful as main characters, their powers come from odd sources. In By the Grace of the Gods, he focuses his immense power on raising slimes while in Kuma, she must fight in a bear costume.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
After a run in with a robber, the 37-year-old Satoru is suddenly killed. He is reincarnated into a fantasy land, but not as a man. In fact, he is no longer even human! He is reincarnated as a lowly slime. After wandering, he comes across a dragon who he befriends and who gives him the new name of Rimuru. Absorbing this dragon into his slime body, promising to eventually break the seal that has bound him, gives Rimuru great magical ability. He then continues to inadvertently befriend beleaguered fantasy creatures in the forest who are constantly threatened by humanity. Eventually, he decides to found a nation uniting these creatures in order to help them protect themselves.
In each isekai series, you have main characters that have incredible powers, but a strange appearance. It comes in the form of a body of a slime or wearing bear pajamas as armor. It leads to some nice comedy in both, but That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime also has some exciting action.
Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
In the divine realm, Gods and Goddesses are assigned worlds in peril to summon heroes to guide on their quest to save those worlds. The Goddess of Healing, Ristarte, is assigned a difficult S-class world and told to pick a hero to defeat the Demon King. While her choices are underwhelming, one low level hero with super stats catches her eye! Seiya Ryuuguuin is indeed a powerful hero, but he also has the problematic quirk of being overly cautious. His desire to stay on the safe side, over-preparing and over-training for all encounters, is a source of frustration for all.
Both fantasy series are all about incredibly powerful people, but with quirks. In Cautious Hero, the hero is very strong, but frustrates people with his passion for over-preparing. In Kuma, the bear suit is powerful but… also it’s a bear suit. Both anime are great comedies, but Kuma Bear is the more wholesome anime.
For Fans of Wholesome Fluff
Princess Connect Re:Dive
The nameless main character is sent to a new world. Kokoro, a girl chosen to be the guardian of her lord, travels to that specific location, told that she would find her lord there. While teaching him of his new world, she meets several other companions and they decide to form a Gourmet Guild in search of delicious things to eat.
While Princess Connect is isekai-ish, the main character is the stand-in for the gatcha game player since it is based off a game. However, like Yuna, he is incredibly powerful and a bit quirky with his powers. Yet, both of these series are similar due to their charming committal to having fun.
Lapis Re:Lights
Leaving home behind, Tiara arrives at Flora Girls’ Academy and meets her old friend, Rosetta. At this academy, they train young witches to use spells for combat as well as performing orchestras in order to power themselves up with harvested mana. Unfortunately, Tiara finds out that the new group she is put into are all on the verge of failing.
Both shows do fantasy in a way in which there isn’t a ton of action, but there is a ton of cute characters. Lapis isn’t an iskeai show, but it has just as much fluff.
