After her parent’s death, young Sarasa was inspired to become an alchemist and graduated from the Royal Alchemist Academy.
Sacrificing friendships for hard work, she graduates with top marks and under the apprenticeship of a master alchemist.
This master helps her get set up with her first alchemy shop. It is in the middle of nowhere, but surrounded by top-notch alchemy ingredients.
While starting up a new shop is hard work, Sarasa is no stranger to working hard for her dreams.
A lovely little slice of life business management show filled with cute girls doing alchemy things. While that is a recipe to blend into the wallpaper, it is nice for people really looking for exactly this premise. Banished From The Hero’s Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside
Red was once the member of a hero’s party that sought to destroy the Demon Lord Taraxon. However, while Red was powerful at first, his companions soon eclipsed him, and thus, pushed him out of the party.
Hoping for a more laid-back life, he moves to the country with a dream to start an apothecary. He hopes to keep his past as an adventurer a secret, but that becomes increasingly more difficult when an adventurer named Rit from his past asks to move in with him.
Both series are about people new to the business world opening, running, and sourcing stuff for their new shop.
However, while Management of a Novice Alchemist is solely focused on that, Banished From The Hero’s Party focuses on his blooming relationship and how the hero’s party is floundering without him from time to time.
RPG Real Estate
After the defeat of the demon lord, the world is at peace. Kotone Kazairo is a newly graduated mage who is looking to start her life.
She starts by visiting Rent Plan Guide (RPG) Real Estate, to find a home. The company also happens to be the place she will also work as well.
There, she discovers the company’s dedication to catering to its diverse pool of customers and finding a home to suit all client’s needs is not always so easy.
To put it bluntly, both series are cute. That’s what they do best, but they explore the cute characters solving the small problems that are brought to their business on each episode.
If you like your cute girls doing cute business things in a fantasy world, these both remain great watches.
Drug Store in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist
Formerly a corporate slave, Reiji was transported to another world. Using his skills, he started making potions that were effective, and most importantly, didn’t taste like absolute garbage.
Now, Reiji lives a slow life on the outskirts of a village by making potions and running a pharmacy.
Both series are pretty low on serious plot and often just focus on problem-to-problem type small plots that allow them to keep a nice relaxing slice of life vibe.
They also are about people running shops for the first time.
For Fans of Slice of Life Fantasy
I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level
Dying from overwork, Azusa Aizawa is allowed to reincarnate into a new world as a witch that will live forever.
Wanting to never be overworked again, she leisurely kills slimes in order to pay for living expenses. However, this meager amount of XP stacks over 300 years of doing it, and she finds herself at max level.
Fearing someone will try to thrust work upon her, she decides to try and hide her strength.
While Management of a Novice Alchemist is a bit more focused on its small plots, at its heart it is just cute girls doing cute things in a fantasy land. 300 Slimes is much the same.
There isn’t too much action in either and both focus more on the slice of life than anything else.
Wandering Witch – The Journey of Elaina
Ever since she was a child, Elaina has been enamored by the stories in her favorite book. It tells the tale of Nike, a famous witch who enjoyed many great adventures around the world.
After becoming a fully-fledged witch herself, she departs, becoming entangled in a number of stories of those she meets around the world.
Both series focus on newly graduated girls heading out into the world on their own for the very first time.
While Wandering Witch starts out as a cute, light-hearted adventure, it does shift over time. It catches you with cute slice of life adventures, then becomes morally ponderous wandering more akin to Kino’s Journey.
So, be prepared for that, but otherwise is is a worthwhile exploration of a fantasy world through the eyes of naivety.
Ascendance of a Bookworm
Motosu Urano loves books. She recently got her librarian certification and was about to enter her dream job when an earthquake caused her to be crushed by her collection of books.
She is reincarnated into a new world as the five year old daughter of a soldier. Unfortunately, in this world, books are reserved for the elite nobility.
What do you do when your station in life does not afford you access to books?
Make your own.
Both series aren’t about high-action adventures. They are about young girls following their passion, starting businesses, and making discoveries in the areas that they are invested in.
What Management of a Novice Alchemist is to alchemy, Ascendance of a Bookworm is to tomes.
However, Ascendance of a Bookworm does stalwartly devote itself to plot and is surprisingly minimal slice of life shenanigans. It is just that its plot is more slice of life-aligned, rather than action.
The Flying Witch
The young Makoto Kowata is a witch, but her skills in magic leave something to be desired. To further train her craft, she moves to rural Aomori to live with her cousins.
This area, rich in nature, is the perfect place to commune with natural forces and hone her craft.
If you like your fantasy series soothing, fun, and focused on small issues for plot instead of grand adventures, The Flying Witch is for you.
Like Management of a Novice Alchemist, it follows a fresh novice, though this time she is a witch, who is trying to become a master at her craft.
As such, she travels to the country and works on her magic while also making new friends.

Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky
In order to prepare for the eventual Dusk’s End, a nation of alchemists devote their efforts to rediscovering lost alchemic arts that may help them survive. Many alchemists gather at Central, an organization that is dedicated solely to conducting research on how to stop the Dusk to learn the most cutting edge techniques.
In a small frontier town, Escha is using her knowledge of ancient alchemy to help people. At Central, Logy, having learned the latest alchemy techniques, asks to be transferred to a small understaffed frontier town.
Together, the pair make up the Development Department in the town and learn to meld their techniques together.
As this series is based on a game, you can expect some JRPG sensibilities to it.
However, like Management of a Novice Alchemist, it focuses on young alchemists who are determined to be masters.
Furthermore, they each also take place in small towns that benefit from having an alchemist around to help them with their problems.
The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent
Sei, a young office worker, is summoned to a new world. However, the people who summoned her to banish dark magic from the world only meant to summon one person they would call Saint. Instead, they summoned two, and Sei discovers that they actually like the other girl better.
Not really caring about that, she ends up making potions at a research institute using her newfound magic.
Unfortunately, while she is unexpectedly talented at her work and happy doing it, she begins to think that she is indeed the Saint.
Both series follow passionate girls that use their magic to be able to help people.
In Management of a Novice Alchemist, she is an alchemist, while in The Saint’s Power is Omnipotent has her making potions.
Both series focus on them exploring this craft and gathering the materials they need for it.
Parallel World Pharmacy
After dedicating himself to creating medicines as a pharmacist, Kani Yakutani works himself to death at the age of 31.
He awakens in the form of a ten-year-old boy that has been struck by lightning. He discovers that he is the son of a prestigious family as well the host to the guardian deity of medicine. This allows him to immediately diagnose illnesses in others.
While this is a miraculous ability, he discovers the state of medicine in this world is primitive and takes up his previous profession from his past life as a pharmacist once again.
While Parallel World Pharmacy isn’t about alchemy, it is about helping people specifically with magic.
The main character is gifted with powerful medical magic and uses it to help the problems plaguing the people, not unlike in Management of a Novice Alchemist. While it also looks vaguely harem-like, it is actually a series very dedicated to its plot and building out an interesting world.
