After her father’s death, a girl inherits a near bankrupt company. She becomes the producer in order to help secure the funds to keep the company running. During this work, she meets four different, yet talented men that can wield a special power known as Evol. They end up drawing her deeper into their world of conspiracies.

Fruits Basket
When Tooru Honda finds herself homeless, she decides to live in a tent in the wilderness. However, one day she is discovered by a classmate, Yuki Souma, and invited to come live in his house. From there she gets to know many members of the Souma family, not realizing that they all are inflicted by a curse. When they hug the opposite gender, they turn into an animal from the Chinese zodiac.
Both series follow an earnest, sweet girl that is surrounded by men of various surliness. They also have some supernatural quirk to them as well. However, in Fruits Basket, she helps the men, while in Mr Love, the men help the protagonist.
Kamigami no Asobi
After finding a sword in her family’s storehouse, Yui is transported to another world. She finds herself face to face with the king of gods, Zeus. In order to repair the relationship between gods and humans, Zeus created an academy for young deities and chose Yui to be the human instructor of it. Now, she must educate five young gods on what it means to be human or be trapped in the realm forever.
Both of these series definitely place a large portion of resources on style rather than substance. The plot isn’t really great in either, but the characters look really nice. The one area Kamigami does excel is that it can be rather funny.
Kamisama Kiss
Homeless and in debt, high schooler Nanami Momozono thinks things are looking up when she rescues a man and he offers to let her stay at his home. She soon discovers that his home is a rundown shrine. Trying to leave, she is mistaken for the man she saved – the man that is also the land god of the shrine, Mikage. Finding out she was tricked into being a god and not wanting to be homeless, Nanami tries to embrace her new divine duties, but has to deal with a hot-headed fox familiar to keep things running smoothly.
In Kamisama Kiss, there is definitely more of a focus on the romance rather than the small harem of supernatural men. It allows for a more fun plot overall and generally a more charming series compared to Mr Love. The men are still handsome, but it is something that you can enjoy for other reasons as well.

Stand My Heroes: Piece of Truth
Drugs have become a major problem in Japan. In order to combat this rising problem, the government established a narcotics investigation section of the police force known as STAND. Charged with recruiting for this organization is Rei Izumi, a woman with a strong sense of justice and immunity to most drugs. However, recruiting potential candidates is more difficult than she anticipated.
Minus the Evol bit, Stand My Heroes is really just the same show. A girl is given a task. She meets a bunch of people that could fit into that task. They just so happen to be beautiful and talented men. Obviously, the plot is not the focus. The boys are.
Ouran High School Host Club
In Ouran High School, the typical student is a member of the wealthy elite, but not Haruhi Fujioka. Accepted on a scholarship, Haruhi wants to avoid all the glitz and glamour in order to study hard and become a lawyer. While looking for a rare quiet place to do so, Haruhi stumbles upon a host club. Frantic to get away from these weird boys, Haruhi breaks a valuable vase. In order to pay back the debt, the club demands that Haruhi becomes a host. There is only one problem, contrary to what the boys believe, Haruhi is actually a girl.
As reverse harems go, Ouran High School Host Club is the most well done. Unlike the characters in Mr Love, the characters in Ouran are all fleshed out and diverse. They are more than just pretty faces despite also being quite handsome and rich. So if you want something with more substance, this is it.
Amnesia
After fainting at work, a young lady awakens in the back room of the café she works at with no memory of her life or those around her. Two of her friends, whom she soon learns are named Shin and Toma, are called to help her get home safely. Once she is alone, she meets a spectral boy named Orion that only she can see and hear. He explains that she lost her memories because of his chance visit to her world, so he vows to help her remember who she is.
Pretty boys. Pretty boys all around. Instead of being pretty and talented like in Mr Love, the boys in Amnesia are pretty, color coded, and damaged in a variety of ways. Furthermore, both protagonists are basically stand-ins for the audience.
For Fans of Heroines in Peril
Yona of the Dawn
After having her luxurious life shattered by the betrayal of her cousin, Princess Yona is forced to escape with her childhood friend Son Hak. However, leaving her palace forces her to see the poverty and strife that really makes up her beloved kingdom. Now she must journey to not only regain her rightful throne, but to return her kingdom to its former glory.
While the protagonist in Mr Love is pretty weak throughout the series, Yona of the Dawn starts with Yona weak and naive, needing her male guardians, before growing into a strong character in her own right. Essentially, she grows into a good leader like the protagonist in Mr Love should be doing.
Escaflowne
During a twist of fate, Hitomi Kanzaki witnesses a boy named Van fall from the sky and kill a dragon. After he defeats it, they are both sucked into a pillar of light and Hitomi is taken to Van’s world where she finds out he is a prince and his kingdom is at war. After his kingdom falls, they both end up on the run as they try to take his kingdom back and get Hitomi home.
While the fantasy setting and plot are very different. If you are a big fan of characters bonding through dangerous experiences and having to rescue each other, then this is a pretty classic choice.
Full Metal Panic
Specialized troops armed with state-of-the-art weapons, Mithril is an organization tasked with stopping terrorism and keeping the peace on earth. However, their success hinges on the Whispered, individuals that possess remarkable knowledge of machinery and devices. Enter Sousuke Sagara who is tasked with protecting Whispered candidate Kaname Chidori. In order to do so, he joins her in high school, but while he has a talent on the battlefield, it seems that doesn’t transfer as well to the classroom. However, the enemies of Mithril are just beginning to make their move.
While Full Metal Panic isn’t harem and isn’t full of intrigue, it is does have strong emphasis on a girl getting into trouble and the and a man having to come to her rescue. It’s got more of a fleshed out plot, more typical to your standard shounen series, but relies heavily in that same damsel in distress theme.
