Anime Like One Room

This is the tale of your interaction with three unrelated girls who live in different circumstances throughout Tokyo.

I usually give POV anime series the big ol’ skip, but seeing as this has amassed three seasons now, I got curious. It is everything I expected it to be, but that’s not exactly a bad thing. It is also probably one of the best POV anime series out there if you care about actual plot. For more anime recommendations like One Room, let us head on down below.

For Fans of POV Anime

room mate anime

Room Mate

This is the tale of your interaction with three unrelated men who live in different circumstances throughout Tokyo.

Made by the same people who made One Room, Room Mate is gender flipped. You are the girl and you are talking to men. Obviously it is aimed at a different audience, though.

pillow boys anime

Pillow Boys

After a long day, you come home to a boy waiting for you. To talk, to whisper sweet nothings in your ear, to coax you into revealing your problems to them.

This, like Room Mate, is aimed at a different gendered audience, but it is still the same sort of POV anime. The characters chat at you, and it is rather soothing.

dogeza anime

Dogeza de Tanondemita

On a quest to see the naughty bits of girls, Dogesuaru has turned to his last resort – begging them.

This one is for people who want a POV anime that is lewder. Although, the main character does make you feel pretty pathetic.

For Fans of Wholesome Relationship Building

slow start anime

Slow Start

Insecure and timid, Hana Ichinose has just moved to a new town. As she also had a slow start, she will be attending school a year behind her peers. However, she is given a good jumping off point to make some friends during her introduction and dives right in.

While there isn’t any romance in it, the sole focus in Slow Start is about a girl trying to grow closer to her peers. It is the same in One Room, though the ultimate goal in some stories is romance rather than friendship.

rec anime

Rec

Matsumaru is a salaryman that got stood up by his colleague on a date. As he was about to toss his movie tickets, a cute girl tells him not to and goes on the date with him instead. While taking her home, it turns out that they live in the same area. It also turns out her apartment caught fire. With nowhere else to stay, he invites her to stay at his place.

Both of these stories have a more mature sort of romance where the characters aren’t in school, and are living normal, stressful lives. However, as Rec isn’t a POV series, it does have a more complex plot, but it is still just a dramatic romance all the same.

Clannad anime

Clannad

Tomoya Okazaki is a delinquent who finds everything dull and believes he will never amount to anything. That is, until a girl named Nagisa catches his eye one day on his way to school. Suddenly, Tomoya begins to notice Nagisa more and more around the campus. She is sickly and weak, but she always tries her best in order to follow her dream of reviving the school’s drama club. Claiming he has nothing better to do, he decides to help Nagisa, and along the way ends up helping several other girls and potential drama club members. However, as he learns more about the girls and helps them overcome their problems, he might just be able to overcome his own as well.

As One Room focuses on multiple girls, it feels a lot like a visual novel dating sim, which is what Clannad was before it was adapted into an anime. In it, the main character helps out multiple girls and befriends them. He also does form a romance with one as well. Yet, while visual novel dating sims are typically POV, Clannad is not.

For Fans of Short Episode Sweetness

tsurezure children anime

Tsurezure Children

Tsurezure Children depicts the many different scenarios of young love. From the relationship between the student council president and a rebel girl to a boy so crippled by his own lack of self-confidence that he can’t accept that a girl confessed to him. You follow their triumphs and failures throughout the relationships of half a dozen young couples.

Did you enjoy One Room because it didn’t just focus on one relationship? Then Tsurezure Children is a great follow up. It follows a dozen different young couples and shows moments in their relationship, and each episode is just a few minutes long as well. It’s a good dose to brighten your day.

Rainbow Days

When Natsuki’s girlfriend spontaneously dumps him on Christmas Eve, he breaks down into tears in the middle of the street. However, when a girl in a Santa suit offers him tissues, he instantly falls for her. As he tries to pursue this girl, his friends also try to help, but their meddling makes their relationship much more difficult.

While not POV, Rainbow Days is a short episode anime series that follows the story of a guy and his group of friends as they build relationships. It cuts out a lot of the drama you find in romance anime and focuses more on the comedy and wholesome moments.

honobono log anime

Honobono Log

Honobono Log tells the short stories of close couples and families, showcasing the fulfilling interactions that they have within.

While not POV, Honobono Log show cases the relationships of several couples in the short episode format. It is a lot like Tsurezure Children mentioned above, but the couples are adults.
