Outburst dreamer boys anime

Anime Like Outburst Dreamer Boys

When Mizuki transferred to a new school, she wanted to live a normal school life and make a few friends. That gets completely derailed when she gets labeled Pink – like the Pink Ranger – by Noda, leader of the Hero Club, a school club that helps those in need.

This energetic boy obsessed with live action Super Sentai shows drags her to meet the members of his club who are all some form of chunibyou.

While she doesn’t get the normalcy she desires, the delusions of grandeur throughout the club certainly make for an exciting school life.

Chunibyou comedies work so well in anime probably because anime contributes to it. Regardless, this series was a pretty wholesome comedy that really took advantage of its likable quirky characters. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Outburst Dreamer Boys, head on down below.

For Fans of Chunibyou

love chunibyou and other delusions anime

Love, Chunibyou, and Other Delusions

Everyone has that stage in their life where they think themselves special, different from mere humans. This phenomenon is called Chunibyou Syndrome and is most common in pre-pubescent children.

In middle school, Yuuta Togashi thought himself the Dark Flame Master. He has since grown out of it upon entering high school and looks back at those cringe-worthy times with displeasure.

Unfortunately, after a chance meeting with Rikka Takanashi, a girl believing to have a God in her eye, she attaches herself to him and brings that Chunibyou past back out.

Both Outburst Dreamer Boys and Love, Chunibyou, and Other Delusions are peak chunibyou-based comedies where one or more characters think they have special powers.

However, Outburst Dreamer Boys just lets the comedy flow from that. Love, Chunibyou, and Other Delusions, on the other hand, addresses the innate cringe of what is a real phenomenon that happens with middle school-aged kids.

Both series are comedies, but Love, Chunibyou, and Other Delusions does turn into more of a romance and has a bit of drama to it as well.

A Destructive God Sits Next to Me anime

A Destructive God Sits Next to Me

It was written that Miguel, the god of destruction, was sealed inside the knight Sturmhurt. Alongside Sturmhurt was the loyal Gestober who fought beside him. These two heroes would pass on, but reincarnate in the present day as classmates.

…Or so says Kabuto Hanadori to his classmate Seri Koyuki. While Seri is a normal student, he is constantly pulled into Kabuto’s chunibyou delusions. This constantly leads him to embarrassing situations that grow further out of control when the unpredictable Utsugi Tsukimiya gets involved as well.

A Destructive God Sits Next to Me is Outburst Dreamer Boys without the girl and without the club. Of course, that is a good chunk of Outburst Dreamer Boys, but this is the series for people that just want more of that imaginative chunibyou comedy, because that’s all it is.

If you enjoy imaginative boys pretending they have special powers or fantasy back stories, which cause havoc all around them, that is A Destructive God Sits Next to Me.

when supernatural battles become commonplace anime

When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

On one extraordinary day, the four members of the Literature Club and the faculty advisor’s niece suddenly find themselves with supernatural powers.

Each amazed with their own abilities, they try to solve the mystery of them, but very little else has changed in the day-to-day activities of the Literature Club.

What if… You actually gave a chunibyou kid special powers? Outburst Dreamer Boys is purely boys with chunibyou fantasies, but When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace follows a small handful of students that get special powers. The leader is a chunibyou who helps a bunch of girls accommodate to actually being special and living with their powers.

While When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace gets a little serious near the end, it was almost exclusively a comedy, and a pretty good one like Outburst Dreamer Boys.

For Fans of Quirky Harems

Ouran High School Host Club anime

Ouran High School Host Club

In Ouran High School, the typical student is a member of the wealthy elite, but not Haruhi Fujioka. Accepted on a scholarship, Haruhi wants to avoid all the glitz and glamour in order to study hard and become a lawyer.

While looking for a rare quiet place to do so, Haruhi stumbles upon a host club. Frantic to get away from these weird boys, Haruhi breaks a valuable vase.

In order to pay back the debt, the club demands that Haruhi becomes a host. There is only one problem, contrary to what the boys believe, Haruhi is actually a girl.

Both Ouran High School Host Club and Outburst Dreamer Boys follows an average girl at a new school who almost immediately gets strong-armed into a secret, quirky club full of eccentric boys.

However, while the Hero Club helps everyone, the Host Club is more about helping their lady patrons feel special.

The biggest difference between these two is that Ouran High School Host Club transforms from silly comedy to actually pretty good romance and does embrace some character drama as well.

d frag anime

D-Frag

Kazama thinks he has what it takes to take over his high school with his gang, even if it is just his two friends in it. However, when his gang has a run in with the four unique girls of the Game Development Club, he is forced in as a member himself.

D-Frag isn’t a chunibyou comedy, but it is a great gamer comedy.

Both series follow relatively normal main characters who get pulled into a club of quirky individuals that become their new, most bothersome friends.

However, D-Frag is more about the main character helping these girls with their club problems as opposed to Outburst Dreamer Boys where it is about the club helping other people.

first love monster anime

First Love Monster

Raised in an influential family, no one has ever said anything unkind to Kaho because of her family. She decides to move into a dorm in order to be treated normally.

Soon after, she wanders into traffic and is saved by a tall stranger. After a tongue-lashing, she falls in love with him and confesses her love.

Only after they are dating does she discover that he is actually a fifth grader.

While First Love Monster is a romance anime rather than just a comedy like Outburst Dreamer Boys, both series deal with younger, less mature boys. They act a little eccentric, but that also is part of their charm as well.

While First Love Monster isn’t about chunibyou boys, it is about a normal girl who finds herself surrounded by a wide array of eccentric boys that pull her into their shenanigans.

For Fans of Request-Based Clubs

Pretty Boy Detective Club anime

Pretty Boy Detective Club

Mayumi Doujima made a promise to her parents that if she couldn’t find a star she once saw long ago, she would give up on her dream of being an astronaut on her 14th birthday. With that day fast approaching, she accidentally enlists the help of eccentric Manabu Soutouin and the rest of Yubiwa Academy’s mysterious Pretty Boy Detective Club.

Agreeing to be helped and in turn help the Pretty Boy Detective Club, Mayumi uses her own special skill, the power of detailed observation, to find small clues and traps that would otherwise go unnoticed. However, while searching for her star, she finds herself entangled in something far beyond what she ever imagined.

Both series are about girls that get absolutely pulled into a not-really-school-sanctioned school club that is home to a bunch of eccentric boys.

However, while both girls get pulled into the shenanigans, the main character in Pretty Boy Detective Club has her own mystery that she is working on.

While both series have a lot of energetic comedy, Pretty Boy Detective Club is based around detectives while Outburst Dreamer Club follows a club about helping anyone with any problem.

Mitsuboshi Colors anime

Mitsuboshi Colors

Within Ueno are the Colors, three girls that help their community by performing good deeds. These three defenders are aided by the grandfatherly Pops who allows them to frequently raid his shop of various knickknacks to help them on their mission.

However, not everyone supports the Colors. Local policeman Saitou just wants to perform his normal duties, but is often transformed into the villain to fight against these heroes.

While the Colors may in fact just be three imaginative girls, and aren’t actually saving their city, they do serve to brighten everyone’s day.

Both Outburst Dreamer Boys and Mitsuboshi Colors follow characters that like to imagine themselves heroes with special powers. They use those powers to help people around town.

However, Mitsuboshi Colors follows younger girls rather than older school boys, so it does feel a little young sometimes. It also isn’t quite as frantic with its comedy. Mitsuboshi Colors still has a lot of comedy, but it is often more of a wholesome sort of comedy.

sket dance anime

SKET Dance

At Kaimei High School, there is a club dedicated to helping others. They call themselves the SKET Brigade, dedicates to Support, Kindness, Encouragement, and Troubleshooting.

This club’s cast of quirky members takes the requests of others and tries to live by SKET, though often being intentionally hilarious in their efforts.

While Outburst Dreamer Boys is distinctly more chunibyou-themed, it shares the same general concept as SKET Dance.

Both series are comedy anime that follows school clubs solely dedicated to just helping people out who ask them for stuff. Usually, that stuff is kind of small or mundane, but because of the quirky personalities in the club, it ends up as a hilarious outing.

medaka box anime

Medaka Box

As the perfect girl, it is only natural that Medaka Kurokami would win the election for school president by a landslide. Her first order of business is to install a “Medaka Box” in which the students could request her help.

Medaka fulfills these requests with top speed, adding a flower to the student council room with each student helped. However, during her trials, she discovered a malicious plot against the academy and herself.

Both Medaka Box and Outburst Dreamer Boys are about people whose entire aim is to help others. While there is definitely some chunibyou earmarks in Medaka Box, that really isn’t “the joke” like it is in Outburst Dreamer Boys.

While both anime series are fun comedies with intense moments, Medaka Box does lean towards more intense action and can actually put on a serious front sometimes.

okami and her seven companions anime

Okami-san and Her Seven Companions

Tomboyish Okami and her best friend Ringo are part of the Otogi Bank, a club that assists students with problems in return for assistance later on.

Admiring Okami from afar is Ryoushi, a boy who can’t stand being looked at. After failing to confess to Okami, Ryoushi ends up inadvertently joining Otogi Bank.

While Ryoushi hopes to win over Okami’s affections, she wants someone who will have her back in a fight, and Ryoushi can’t even stand being looked at, much less fight.

Both Okami-san and Her Seven Companions and Outburst Dreamer Boys are focused on school clubs whose whole purpose is to help people who make requests of them.

Both series enjoy quirky characters and often use them for comedy. However, while both comedic, Okami-san and Her Seven Companions does grow into having a serious plot centered around the main character and why she acts as closed off as she does. So while Outburst Dreamer Boys is a comedy all the way through, Okami-san is not.
