peach boy riverside anime

Anime Like Peach Boy Riverside

In a world where humans and demihuman creatures live at odds with each other, princess Saltorine “Sally” Aldike is on a journey to find a man named Mikoto Kibitsu who is bent on exterminating all ogres. On her travels, she takes up with a number of companions despite questionable lineage as ogres or demihumans. Whereas Mikoto is traveling and using his immense power that manifests in physical prowess and a peach shape in his eyes to slay ogres, Sally, who possesses similar powers, hopes to unite the inhabitants of the world in a more peaceful existence.

What seems like a last minute decision to do non-linear storytelling detracted from what was otherwise a perfectly fine action adventure anime. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Peach Boy Riverside, then head on down below.

For Fans of the Bonds of Friendship

fairy tail anime

Fairy Tail

While looking to enhance her magic, celestial mage Lucy meets an energetic fire mage name Natsu. After finding out he is a member of the famous wizard guild Fairy Tail that she has long admired, the pair travel home so Lucy can join. Together with her new guildmates, Lucy and Natsu embark on adventures to help people, make money, and explore their vast magical world.

Despite the moments where certain characters put their murder faces on, Peach Boy Riverside maintains a rather upbeat sort of shounen series. Like Fairy Tail, it follows a group of friends that essentially just travel and handle various events that they become entangled in.

fire force crew anime

Fire Force

A phenomenon has started overtaking mankind – one where people spontaneously combust and turn into destructive fire demons called Infernals. To fight these demons, special fire forces were established full of those with dedication and powers to control fire. This is the story of Fire Force 8 and their newest recruit – Shinra, who aims to become a hero and discover the truth behind the Infernals.

Both series enjoy going from rather light-hearted to suddenly dark, but Fire Force does show more fire than actual blood. The real similarity is in each series, you get a sense that things are really going on beyond what you see from the main characters. Fire Force and Peach Boy Riverside also share having humankind in peril from a specific being.

hunter x hunter anime

Hunter x Hunter

Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become a world-class Hunter, a skilled individual that performs all manner of dangerous tasks, just like his long-absent father. However, Gon finds that the path to achieving his goals is more challenging than he could have ever imagined, but in order to overcome it, Gon recruits some powerful friends.

Both series, at times, feel very young in their desired audience. Yet, that being said, there are moments where is goes from “Yay! Friendship!” to “What Did He Just Do To That Guy?” It is part of what made Hunter x Hunter so beloved, though Peach Boy Riverside lacked the same depth of character and world-building.

For Fans of Monster Extermination

seraph of the end anime

Seraph of the End

After a mysterious virus killed every human over 13 years old, the vampires rose up with a promise to protect the survivors. The only thing they asked in return is donations of blood. For Yuuichirou and Mikaela, they have grown tired of being livestock and pose a daring escape plan. It ultimately fails with only Yuuichirou left alive. However, after joining up with a mercenary company, he swears vengeance on the vampires, no matter the cost.

While vampires are different from the ogres in Peach Boy Riverside, both series follow the growth and travel of a character that wants to exterminate a specific species of monster for various reasons. However, Seraph of the End adapts a more mature shounen tone and focuses less on the adventure, and more on the grand battles that take place.

d gray man anime

D Gray Man

After three years training with one of their prestigious Generals that saved him as a kid, Allen Walker is finally ready to join the Black Order, an organization of exorcists that fight Akuma and their leader, the Millennium Earl. With their Innocence weapons, Allen and his fellow exorcist embark on a journey to stop the Earl’s plot of ultimate destruction.

While D Gray Man functions under the thumb of an organization, a lot of the series is just the characters traveling and dealing with the Akuma they come across. Like Peach Boy Riverside, the characters want to remove the Akuma, but more so remove the reason they exist to begin with since they are not outright evil much like how an ogre without a horn isn’t necessarily evil.

swords and sorcery anime goblin slayer

Goblin Slayer

A young priestess fresh out of the temple is excited to start her life as an adventurer. On her first day, she joins an adventuring party to go slay some goblins. However, like so many young adventure parties before them, they underestimate the goblins. It ends with two dead, one viciously raped, and the priestess saved from fate by a man whose only mission in life is to slay all the goblins.

While Peach Boy Riverside spends a bit more time on the characters, both it and Goblin Slayer are about characters solely motivated by extermination of one specific species, as well as the less motivated people that surround them. They also share a similarity of being pretty brutal very suddenly and then going bad to being rather tame.

For Fans of Wandering Princesses

yona of the dawn anime

Yona of the Dawn

After having her luxurious life shattered by the betrayal of her cousin, Princess Yona is forced to escape with her childhood friend Son Hak. However, leaving her palace forces her to see the poverty and strife that really makes up her beloved kingdom. Now she must journey to not only regain her rightful throne, but to return her kingdom to its former glory.

While they left for different reasons, both Yona and Sally are both considered wandering princesses who find themselves surrounded by a number of strong companions. While the overall motivations are different, both series do explore interesting character stories.

scrapped princess anime

Scrapped Princess

Known as the Scrapped Princess, a poison that will destroy the world, Pacifica Casull is hated by the worshipers of the god Mauser. To avoid being killed, Pacifica and her adopted brother and sister leave her village of Manhurin, looking for a way to avoid the foreseen disaster that will befall the world on her 16th birthday.

Both series focus on wandering princesses, though in Scrapped Princess, she was forced to leave. While Scrapped Princess is a little more set on character growth, it is a series about travel and adventure where both girls have a mysterious, yet important power.

The Twelve Kingdoms anime

Twelve Kingdoms

In what started as a normal day as a normal high school student, Nakajima Youko has her reality shattered when a strange man named Keiki appears before her, swearing his allegiance. When Youko and her friends are attacked by demons, they are pulled into a different world, one she has never known. Separated from Keiki, Youko and her friends must do whatever they have to in order to survive this strange, harsh place.

While Twelve Kingdoms is distinctly a more mature series, it does focus on a princess and her travels. You watch the world expand as the characters explore it and gather their companions. It is just that Twelve Kingdoms has a much grander scope and a less focus on the “fantasy” part of the world.
