The Demon Lord Varvatos is a power unrivaled. However, being at the top with no challenges and no one who is unafraid enough to be a friend is lonely, so he decides to reincarnate. In his new life as a boy named Ard, he aims to have perfectly average powers, except that everyone in this new age has grown so weak. While he remains overpowered, he has a singular goal of amassing meaningful friendships.
I’m running out of nice things to say about these fantasy series that aren’t even putting the effort in. Regardless, if you are looking for more anime recommendations like The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody, then head on down below.

For Fans of Great Power Choosing to Reincarnate
The Misfit of Demon King Academy
After countless wars, Demon Lord Anos Voldigoad decided he would reincarnate into the future. However, 2,000 years later, he has found that his descendants have become too used to peace and their magical powers weakened because of it. Reincarnated with his full strength, the sheer magical power of Anos makes him a misfit at the Demon King Academy charged with educating the next generation in waning magical prowess.
Both series surround a demon lord that, one day, just decided that they would reincarnate. They find that the power in the world significantly waned over the past hundreds of years and end up the very strongest without question.
The Strongest Sage With The Weakest Crest
When they are born, mages are each given a random and unchangeable crest that will effect their powers and potential. Gaius, a man widely known as the strongest sage, reached the limit of his potential, but decided to reincarnate far into the future to attain a different crest. He is reborn as Mathias Hildesheimer thousands of years later and gets the crest he hoped to receive. However, in this future, his crest has been slandered as the worst crest due to demons that have now infiltrated humanity and pull the strings in order to limit humanity’s magical potential.
Whereas Ard was lonely as a demon lord and decided to reincarnated, Mathias felt the limit of his power and decided to reincarnate. Regardless, both were incredibly powerful as their past selves and are still powerful as their present selves. It is just that the power in the world around them waned.
For Fans of OP Main Character With a Harem
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord
In his MMORPG, Takuma boast overwhelming strength and was referred to as the demon king. However, one day he gets summoned to another world, still in the appearance of his character. There he discovers two girls that use the same magic he uses to turn others into slaves. However, due to his magic reflect skill, the spell was turned back on them.
Both series follow demon lords who have a bit of a twist to them besides than just being a generic demon lord. Ultimately, they enjoy their new human connections in the new world, though How Not to Summon a Demon Lord leans more on the lewd side.
The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat
The greatest assassin on Earth lived only to be a tool by those that wished to wield his mastery. That is, until they decided that he was no longer needed and ended his life. By the grace of a goddess, this masterful man was reincarnated into a new world where he is asked to kill a hero that will later bring about the end of that world. Deciding to finally live for himself, this man, now named Lugh Tuatha De, puts his skills as a killer to the test with foes who wield real magic.
While both series share a main character that seeks to reincarnate in order to live differently, they share a similar progression as well. They are reincarnated, they are strong even among others, and they then attract a series of cute girls that assist them in their endeavors.
Spirit Chronicles
When he was a child, Amakawa Haruto made a promise to his childhood friend to reunite. However, he could never fulfill that promise both because she had disappeared and because he was killed in a bus accident. Now, his memories awaken in a young orphan named Rio who seeks revenge for his mother that was brutally murdered in front of him. Confused about these memories of Haruto’s life, Rio ends up saving the kidnapped young princess and awakening a special power in the process. As reward for his heroism, he is granted a scholarship to the Royal Academy.
There are tons of isekai with an overpowered protagonist that attracts a number of cute girls to his side, but Spirit Chronicles in particular also shares an element of meeting people from the past. In The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody, he meets others who have also reincarnated, whereas in Spirit Chronicles, they find people from Haruto’s old life in his new fantasy world.
The Wise Man’s Grandchild
After being hit by a truck and killed, a young man was reincarnated into a new world as a baby. He was found and raised by a legendary sage named Merlin and given the name Shin. However, while Merlin taught him his skills and Shin grew into an extremely powerful mage, living in the forest failed to teach Shin common sense and other people skills.
If you enjoy the main character just being awe-inspiringly strong and the entire plot involving the various ways that women flock to his side, then this is more of that. To Wise Man’s Grandchild’s credit, it does have some more interesting plot elements to it, but a harem isekai is still just that at its core.
For Fans of Wanting Something Else From Life Other Than Power
I’m Quitting Heroing
After using his immense power to save the world, Leo finds that there is no place for a powerful hero in a world at peace. Being too strong to remain in human kingdoms, he seeks a job in the Demon King’s Army, which he defeated and is in need of rebuilding. While the army has many problems, Leo’s power is boundless, but he finds that the demon king has kinder motives for world domination than he expected.
While they have different plots, both of these series are about wildly overpowered individuals who feel absolutely alienated by their own strength. So they seek out a different way to live and hope to be able to better connect to people. Yet, they both just devolve into harem shenanigans and quickly ended action.
Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!
Because of her exceptional abilities, Misato Kurihara never got to live a normal life. However, after her sudden death, she is offered reincarnation and one wish. Her wish is to have average abilities so that she can live an average life. Unfortunately, reincarnated as a noble’s daughter, she still has impressive magic ability. Determined to still have her normal life, she flees to a far away hunter school and attempts to hide her abilities.
Both series are, ultimately, about characters that wanted to be weaker or less perfect in order to bond with their peers. The real big difference is that Didn’t I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life is moe slice of life whereas The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody is your standard isekai adventure harem thing.
Suppose a Kid From The Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town?
In ancient times, those who saved humanity settled outside of the infamous Last Dungeon. Their descendants have all been strong enough to survive in the area by building a community. Lloyd is one such descendant, but the weakest in the village. Hoping to grow strong, he heads to the Kingdom of Azami to enroll in their military academy. However, in this starter zone, Lloyd’s powers seem otherworldly to everyone around him.
While they have different sorts of main characters, these series are bound together by main characters that are just so comically strong compared to everyone else. It is often played for laughs, and occasionally useful in serious situations. If you enjoy your comedies about strong main characters kind of bumbling through adventures, then you’ll enjoy this series.
