tsukimichi anime

Anime Like Tsukimichi – Moonlit Fantasy

Makoto Misumi is just an ordinary boy, but one night after learning his parents were from another world and guaranteed their travel to Japan by agreeing to give up what they care about most one day, he is transported to another world.

Unfortunately, the goddess of that world finds him ugly and in all ways repulsive.

She flings him to the corner of the world with her only gift being the ability to understand, speak, and write monster languages. With gifts from his previous worlds’ god, Tsukuyomi, and enhanced abilities from growing up in a non-magical world, Makoto sets out to make a life for himself.

Comedic but still having a plot, I think Tsukimichi does struggle to stand out from the isekai masses, but is actually an unexpectedly enjoyable adventure when given a shot. If you are looking for more anime recommendations like Tsukimichi, then head on down below.

that time i got reincarnated as a slime anime

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

After a run in with a robber, the 37-year-old Satoru is suddenly killed. He is reincarnated into a fantasy land, but not as a man. In fact, he is no longer even human!

He is reincarnated as a lowly slime.

After wandering, he comes across a dragon who he befriends and who gives him the new name of Rimuru. Absorbing this dragon into his slime body, promising to eventually break the seal that has bound him, gives Rimuru great magical ability.

He then continues to inadvertently befriend beleaguered fantasy creatures in the forest who are constantly threatened by humanity. Eventually, he decides to found a nation uniting these creatures in order to help them protect themselves.

Most obviously, Tsukimichi and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime are about people isekai’d into a new world and put in a situation where they ally with the outcasted beast and monster tribes. However, unlike Tsukimichi where the main character is just considered ugly, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has the main character, as the title says, reincarnated as a slime creature.

While both series are about building a nation for the beast people, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is more focused on doing just that. It just kind of happens in Tsukimichi and he spends a bit more time trying to integrate into the human world.

the rising of the shield hero anime

The Rising of the Shield Hero

The stories tell of four heroes summoned from another world – the sword, spear, bow, and shield heroes who will prevent calamity. With darkness bearing down on them, the Kingdom of Melromarc summons these heroes from modern day Japan.

For otaku Naofumi Iwatani, unfortunately he is labeled the shield hero, the weakest of the group. Worse yet, betrayal sees him labeled as a criminal and outcasted.

With hatred and vengeance consuming him, he sets forth to grow strong.

Tsukimichi and The Rising of the Shield Hero are isekai anime where the main character is essentially forced out of human society. In The Rising of the Shield Hero, he is betrayed and outcasted because of it. As such, he puts more trust in the beleaguered and persecuted beast people of the world and eventually becomes a sort of champion for them.

Unlike Tsukimichi, The Rising of the Shield Hero has some lighter moments, but as it is is a more vengeance-driven story at times, it is a more serious tale.

so im a spider so what anime

So I’m a Spider, So What?

On one normal day in high school, the lives of many students ended unexpectedly. Some were reincarnated as nobles or strong heroes. Others were reincarnated as wondrous fantasy creatures.

Unfortunately for one girl, she was reincarnated as a lowly cave spider. No stranger to hardship given her difficult school life, she vows to not give up, and through an RPG system, grows stronger each day.

Both Tsukimichi and So I’m a Spider So What are isekai series in which the main characters either are monsters or were forced into a situation in which monsters are their only viable allies.

However, unlike Tsukimichi and its monster girl allies, So I’m a Spider So What is more about the main character having to go it alone. Unlike Makoto, she isn’t strong when she was isekai’d either. So unlike Tsukimichi’s comedy-laced adventure, So I’m a Spider So What is more focused on her growing her power and sometimes struggling.

anime series like konosuba

Konosuba

On his way back from buying a new game, Kazuma Satou died a pathetic death.

However, he awakens before the Goddess Aqua who gives him two choices: go to heaven or reincarnate into an actual fantasy world. Naturally, the gamer picks the fantasy world.

Now, Kazuma must deal with defeating an evil demon king, useless party members, and paying living expenses.

In both Konosuba and Tsukimichi, the main characters are sent to another world and kind of excited to have a nice isekai adventure. Unfortunately for them, their isekai dreams do not go as planned.

In Tsukimichi, he has to deal with being ugly and hated by god even though he is powerful. In Konosuba, the main character is weak, accompanied by a useless goddess, and finds out adventuring is hard and made harder by his comically flawed companions.

combatants will be dispatched anime

Combatants Will Be Dispatched

On Earth, the villainous Kisaragi Corporation has finally conquered everything, but they have their eye on the entire universe. Having finally created a transporter, they send agent Roku-gou to the kingdom of Grace where he is to infiltrate and eventually conquer the kingdom for the corporation.

Of course, to ensure the success of one of their more disposable agents, they send with him Alice, an exceptional android, to make sure the mission is carried out.

Finally arriving, Roku-gou and Alice end up infiltrating the inner circle of the kingdom and helping them secure victory against an invading Demon Lord.

Both Tsukimichi and Combatants Will be Dispatched are isekai anime that don’t take themselves too seriously.

The characters are comically flawed, the adventure goes off the rails, and it is all around atypical. Both are, however, series you will enjoy watching if you do want something more comedic, but also something that has a plot.

hataage kemono michi anime

Hataage! Kemono Michi

Shibata Genzo is both a professional wrestler and an animal lover. One day, he is summoned to another world by a princess. She makes the mistake of asking him to rid her kingdom of these evil beasts.

Instead of doing that, Genzo suplexes her and heads off to start a monster pet shop.

Tsukimichi and Kemono Michi are comedy isekai where the heroes end up being an ally to beleaguered beasts. In Tsukimichi, he is kind of unhappy about this while Kemono Michi has the main character revel in his dangerous new pet friends.

While Tsukimichi is more focused on adventure, Kemono Michi is mostly just him running a pet shop, comically and poorly.

cautious hero anime

Cautious Hero – The Hero is Overpowered But Overly Cautious

In the divine realm, Gods and Goddesses are assigned worlds in peril to summon heroes to guide on their quest to save those worlds.

The Goddess of Healing, Ristarte, is assigned a difficult S-class world and told to pick a hero to defeat the Demon King. While her choices are underwhelming, one low level hero with super stats catches her eye!

Seiya Ryuuguuin is indeed a powerful hero, but he also has the problematic quirk of being overly cautious. His desire to stay on the safe side, over-preparing and over-training for all encounters, is a source of frustration for all.

Both Tsukimichi and Cautious Hero are comedy isekai anime in which the gods and goddesses are also part of the comedy. While they can be a bit hateful in Tsukimichi, Cautious Hero has the isekai’d hero being the terror to the deities in his series with his quirks.

Furthermore, while both of these series are more comedic, they are actually still following a plot. They can even get unexpectedly serious in some moments, particularly in Cautious Hero.

For Fans of Living Life As An Outcast

uncle from another world anime using his magic

Uncle From Another World

Takafumi’s uncle has been in a coma for 17 years after being hit by a truck when he was 17. However, after all this time, he has woken up.

As Takafumi discovers, while his uncle was in a coma in his world, he was transported to a fantasy land and became a great hero despite constantly being confused for an orc due to his appearance.

Now, Takafumi has to room with this man who needs to catch up on 20 years of gaming and anime culture while still possessing literal magical powers.

While Uncle From Another World is about a man on an isekai adventure while he was in a coma, then waking up and being back in the modern world with his magic still intact, what the series shares with Tsukimichi is that everyone in those fantasy worlds found the main character’s face repulsively ugly.

While in Tsukimichi he simply does his best to hide his ugly face, Uncle From Another World wears it out in the open and just deals with the persecution.

While you could call both of these series comedy isekai, Uncle From Another World leans more into comedy while Tsukimichi does still have a pretty standard isekai plot that it follows.

Leo and the Demon Queen from the I'm Quitting Heroing anime working together

I’m Quitting Heroing

After using his immense power to save the world, Leo finds that there is no place for a powerful hero in a world at peace.

Being too strong to remain in human kingdoms, he seeks a job in the Demon King’s Army, which he defeated and is in need of rebuilding.

While the army has many problems, Leo’s power is boundless, but he finds that the demon king has kinder motives for world domination than he expected.

I’m Quitting Heroing is innately different from Tsukimichi in that it isn’t an isekai. However, it is set in a similar sort of fantasy world where humans are prejudice against… anything that isn’t a human. Even the main character, the person so strong he saved them from the Demon Lord’s army is outcasted by human society because of his strength.

As such, in both I’m Quitting Heroing and Tsukimichi you watch the main character become friends with the non-humans and build up a nation with them.

However, while I’m Quitting Heroing does keep things pretty light-hearted, it can get surprisingly dark with some of its back stories.

Seichii being help by a pink gorilla with anime girl eyes in the Fruit of Evolution anime

The Fruit of Evolution – Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made

Seiichi Hiragi is a fat loser who has been outcasted and bullied at school. However, one day it was announced by a being claiming to be God that they would all be transported to another world, but had to wait for the summoning to be completed.

The school formed up into groups, but Seiichi was shunned.

This caused him to be transported elsewhere when they went to a new world. Hungry, he ate a fruit that turned out to be the fruit of evolution, propelling his life to new heights.

Unlike Tsukimichi where the main character is an outcast in his new world, The Fruit of Evolution has its main character be an outcast in his old one. Both series have these two boys be sent to a new world where they happen to get overwhelmingly overpowered almost immediately.

What do they do with this power? Well, power attract hot monster girls, as it turns out.

Both Tsukimichi and The Fruit of Evolution are both lighter, more comical isekai anime that do still have isekai plots. They just happen to be hilarious on occasion. Regardless, both series are about the main characters traveling around with their harems.

The main characters in the Arifureta anime trying to get out of a dungeon

Arifureta – From Commonplace to World’s Strongest

Otaku Hajime Nagumo and several of his classmates are summoned to a fantasy world and tasked with saving mankind. However, while his classmates are gifted with great abilities, Hajime only has transmutation skills that have no real offensive use.

He is soon betrayed by a classmate and sent into an abyss filled with monsters. Resolving to not die to the darkness, he struggles to survive and teams up with an imprisoned vampire to return to the world above.

Both Arifureta and Tsukimichi follow main characters that are betrayed by humanity, but almost as quickly make friends with very powerful non-human girls. However, the big difference is that while Tsukimichi is pretty comical about it, Arifureta takes the edgelord path of darkness and revenge.

Despite the difference in tone, both series remain essentially about those main characters traveling with their harem and solving problems.

skeleton knight in another world anime

Skeleton Knight in Another World

After falling asleep playing games, a gamer woke up in the game world, but as a skeleton. While he is equipped well, his appearance is too frightening to live the peaceful life he wants. Yet, after meeting a beautiful elf woman, he may find himself a different path full of adventure.

What Tsukimichi and Skeleton Knight in Another World share the most is that they are isekai adventures where the main character has to hide his face so he doesn’t scare everyone.

When the main characters are sent to this new world, they also unexpectedly end up one of the most powerful beings in it. As they have to hide their identity, they get involved with other outcasted races like the beast people in Tsukimichi or persecuted elves in Skeleton Knight.

Both series are on the lighter side, but Skeleton Knight in Another World does move into more of a serious plot.
