Tsurezure Children depicts the many different scenarios of young love. From the relationship between the student council president and a rebel girl to a boy so crippled by his own lack of self-confidence that he can’t accept that a girl confessed to him. You follow their triumphs and failures throughout the relationships of half a dozen young couples.
Although the episodes are only 15 minutes long, Tsurezure Children provides a hearty dose of love diabetes in each episode, and we know that those sort of sweet moments are addicting, so here are some similar anime recommendations.
Anime Like Tsurezure Children
For Fans of Multi-Couple Romances
Convenience Store Boyfriends
This is the story of six students and the convenience store that they frequent on their way to and from school. They love, they laugh, they eat pudding cups, and this is their story.
With Tsurezure Children and Convenience Store Boyfriends premiering in the same season, it seems the Summer 2017 anime season is the summer of multi-love. With there are only a fraction of the couples compared to Tsurezure Children, Convenience Store Boyfriends is just as sweet and sappy, but with a longer air time and less couples, they get a greater focus but also have down time between those romantic moments.
Honey and Clover
Yuuta, Takumi, and Shinobu all share an apartment with no bath. The low rent is perfect for their poor college student lifestyle. However, while they all have their own lives going on, they always come together for each others.
If you like Tsurezure Children because it focused on the lives of a variety of different people, then that is exactly what you will like about Honey and Clover. While it focuses more on life drama rather than romance at times, it is one of the better done romances with its realistic and pleasant characters.
Pet Girl of Sakura Hall
Unable to resist taking in abandoned kittens, and amassing quite a collection of them, Sorata Kanda is forced to move to Suimei High School’s infamous Sakura Hall. This dorm is used to house all the misfit students that don’t quite fit in the regular housing. There, Sorata meets an array of different oddballs that inspire him to work towards getting back into the regular dorms and away from them. However, when a new transfer student moves in, he meets the incredible artist, Shiina Mashiro. While talented, she is completely incapable of taking care of herself, and so, Sorata brings her into his care and his strange days truly begin.
Although the Pet Girl of Sakura Hall is more about self discovery at times, there are about three different couples at play. Unlike Tsurezure Children, the main couple often gets more attention, but there are episodes where you just get berated with romance drama of every different kind in both shows.
For Fans of Short, but Sweet Episodes
Momokuri
Yuki Kurihara has finally been granted her wish of dating her crush, Momo. At a glance, she looks like just a cute girl, but Yuki is actually a Momo fanatic. Momo, on the other hand, is just a boy that is inexperienced at love and just wants to make Yuki happy.
Both series have a short episode format, and as such they only have a short amount of time to tell a good story. While Tsurezure does a little better job considering how many couples it has to showcase, Momokuri is just filled with that sappy diabetes-giving sweetness throughout. However, while still a short format series, because Momokuri only has one main couple, it can devote itself more towards development.
Honobono Log
Honobono Log tells the short stories of close couples and families, showcasing the fulfilling interactions that they have within.
The only difference between Honobono Log and Tsurezure Children is that it focuses on older couples and families rather than youthful school love. It also only has 2 minute episodes, so what these really both have in common is that the episodes end up leaving you feeling like you need so much more.
My Wife is Student Council President
Hayato Izumi is the perfect respectable student and is running for student council president. However, after his competition, Ui Wakana, promises sex education and free condoms, she wins by a landslide. Still sore about his loss, things become even more complicated when Ui moves in with him. Apparently their parents, the filthy lushes that they are, made a drunken promise to have their kids marry each other. Can he keep their life a secret and the student council in line at the same time?
Do you like Tsurezure Children because it can be both hilarious and extremely sappy? It is the same with My Wife is Student Council President. There are comedic hijinks, but also those sweet moments at the end of the day.
For Fans of Uplifting Atmosphere
Daily Lives of High School Boys
This is the tale of three boys that roam the halls of the all-boys school of Sanada North. Their lives are filled with nothing but giant robot drama and true love stories, at least in their imaginations. In reality, these three boys are nothing special, but they try their best to pass the time.
In essence, both of these shows are about the school lives of young people as they live, learn, and love. While Tsurezure focuses on the love part more than anything else, you can definitely find a similar sort of comedy and youthful wonderment in both series.
Amagami SS
After being stood up on a Christmas Eve date, Junichi has a hard time opening himself up to romance again, even two years later. However, upon a chance meeting with several girls he becomes romantically interested in, he has hope that this year he can spend Christmas Eve with someone he truly loves.
What really makes these two series similar is that they focus on a variety of different couples. Amagami is an omnibus romance, which means it tells the different love story routes of all the girls the main character chooses. So while Tsurezure has different couples, Amagami has one main character in many different relationships, all of which are super sappy.
Nijiiro Days
When Natsuki’s girlfriend spontaneously dumps him on Christmas Eve, he breaks down into tears in the middle of the street. However, when a girl in a Santa suit offers him tissues, he instantly falls for her. As he tries to pursue this girl, his friend also try to help, but their meddling makes their relationship much more difficult.
A number of stories in Tsurezure Children are about the characters getting sabotaged or doing it to themselves. It is through this in both series where you can find both comedy and an ultimately satisfying conclusion to the romance story.
