Alright, male anime characters. It’s time to get objectified. Like real objectified. Prepare to burn literally every shirt you own and wear your tightest of whities because it is time for a little fan service for all the female anime fans out there.
While it is for sure not as prevalent as all those panty shots and gravity-defying globes in a bikini top, there are a few series out there that provide a treat for the growing number of female anime fans out there. So if a deep hunger for exposed fictional man-flesh has rumbled forth, we got you with the anime recommendations.
Best Anime With Fan Service For Women
Free
The most infamous of female fan service anime. Perhaps because the pool-soaked flesh shines so brightly that it catches all eyes. However, more likely is because this swimming anime comes with a heaped on serving of melodrama. Far more than you would probably find on a real swim team. It makes it so the boys are more than just eye candy. But don’t get me wrong, they are also eye candy.
Karneval
Karneval, in plot, wants so badly to be a grand Gothic action story, and it even has an interesting visual design to back it up. However, it lacks the actual substance to pull it off. That all being said, you will note that every single boy inside is flawlessly beautiful looking. While it doesn’t have them bare their bodies often, there are a few treats on occasion.
Yuri on Ice
I had a bit of a think as to whether Yuri on Ice qualified. Certainly there was plenty of BL bait, but BL bait does not fan service make, and otherwise those figure skaters were all pretty clothed. Then I flashed back to one scene in particular that was just Victor’s beautiful bare body in the bath, and here we are.
Kamigami no Asobi
This series is set up to be a reverse harem about a girl surrounded by literal gods. What need do gods have for mortal clothing? Well, in this series, it is used to enhance their cuteness. However, they take it off plenty.
Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East
Most female fan service anime is typically sports anime, for whatever reason. However, the more action a series has, often the less female-aimed fan service you will see. However, Hakkenden broke the mold on that regard. Of course, while it does have that action, it also does have those BL breadcrumbs. The fan service here comes from the fact that these boys strip down for any and all reasons.
The Wallflower
As an aging anime, the bishounen boys in The Wallflower have a lot less impact these days. We’ve been spoiled by modern animation severely on this front. However, if you can look past their looks for their occasional passion to show their bodies as they rehabilitate a shut-in horror nerd of a lady, well, you will find four lovelies for your spank bank. …Rub Hub? Schlick Safe? Is “spank bank” actually gender neutral? I’m making it weird, aren’t I?
Touken Ranbu
I have never seen a series more bursting with boy. There are dozens of historical swords made flesh in this series, that being the basis for the plot, but why are they all men and why are they all handsome? Well, let’s not think so hard on that one. The real charm here is both the bulk and diversity of the character designs. Of course, a blade needs to keep its edge, so you’ll see some flesh come fitness time.
Yowamushi Pedal
You know how many degenerate male anime fans worship at the alter of thicc thighs these days? Well, Yowamushi Pedal is thicc thighs, but for ladies. Thick, muscular, barely covered legs pushing those bodies around at top speed. Since this is indeed a cycling anime, expect a couple of lingering toned ass shots as well.
Fairy Tail
You can expect a certain amount of bare boy flesh in shounen anime, but they are usually for dramatic effect and not trying to lure that female gaze. Fairy Tail, on the other hand, feels like it is often trying to do just that. Gray, in particular, is the frequent flyer of offenders as well as chronically shirtless Natsu. However, this series is fan service for both genders.
Ouran High School Host Club
Ouran High School Host Club is meant to be a reverse harem that caters to female viewers, but as far as this list goes, the skin is a little lacking. I include it because there are a few beach moments in it, but they are bishounen boys so they aren’t especially interesting. Yet, because this series does love its costumes, I feel like it still counts.
Re-Main
Like Free, Re-Main has the very convenient excuse of being about water polo. There is significantly less boy drama in Re-Main since it seems determined to be a more serious sports anime, but still, there is glorious wet man flesh in abundance.
Dive
Dive is yet another water sports anime. However, it has the distinct disadvantage of not being a particularly good one. The biggest issue is that, for a sports anime, it does a profoundly poor job on educating you about competitive diving. The second biggest issue is that it lets its characters be boring archetypes. However, it does have one thing going for it. You guessed it. The bare hard bodies.
Space Battleship Tiramisu
As a comedy parodying older space mecha series like Gundam and particularly Space Battleship Yamato, you would be right to not suspect much fan service here, and even more right not to expect fan service for the female fans, but man, he gets naked in in his mech a lot. It also has that slick and shiny modern animation that makes bare skin look so good.
Golden Kamuy
Admittedly, there is not a lot of female fan service in Golden Kamuy, mostly because they need to keep their warm weather clothes on. However, there are very notable and memorable moments. If you like your men large, muscular, and hairy. T’is a treat for you.
All Out
This one is a little less obvious. All Out is about Rugby, not water sports, so no excuse for speedos. However, you look me dead in the windows to my soul and tell me that those tight rugby uniforms and bubble butts are not for us thirsty female anime fans that watch sports anime for the boys rather than the balls.
