Ah, school life. The older you get, the more you yearn for those simpler times. Not so much for the classes, those pretty much sucked, but for the camaraderie presented by other school activities. Every school may have formal clubs like band or sports teams, but anime also presents the more intriguing school clubs that were often created by students for students with similar interests. Whether it is clubs with a specific purpose or just for messing around, school clubs in anime present a unique venue that is home to a lot of crazy shenanigans.
Best School Club Anime
Ouran High School Host Club
The Host Club is the most infamous and beloved of almost all school clubs in anime. When you are infinitely rich, beautiful, and pretty much run a prestigious rich kid school, you can pretty much do what you want, I suppose. Due to fulfilling all of those requirements, the members of the Host Club can go on opulent vacations with their club visitors, as well as have extravagant cosplay days.
Kokoro Connect
The club in Kokoro Connect is pretty much just a club for people that don’t want to join other clubs. They don’t really have a purpose and spend most of their time snacking and chatting. However, despite this, the members have a fair amount of emotional boundaries that separate them. Of course when the plot of this series forces the club members to randomly switch bodies, all those boundaries come crumbling down.
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
When Hachiman writes an essay that mocks modern social relationships, his teacher forces him to join the Volunteer Service Club. Within this club, the members lend a helping hand to students that need support in reaching their goals. With Hachiman being apathetic and narcissistic, the premise of the club is the complete opposite of him. Can helping others help his rotten views?
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Kyon has stopped believing that anything supernatural is out there, but the energetic Haruhi Suzumiya has managed to rope him into the SOS Brigade, a club that believes in all things supernatural. In this club, most of the time they end up messing around and are at a constant beck and call to Haruhi’s whims, but despite this, Kyon has seen things that can’t logically be explained. Of course, there is more going on in this club than meets the eye.
Yuru Yuri
The Amusement Club in Yuyu Yuri was solely formed to provide entertainment for its members. However, it also provides friendship of some its outcasted newer members. With a club premise that is so incredibly vague, it opens the way for a number of odd, but amusing shenanigans.
Genshiken
Who doesn’t love a good old fashioned anime club? However, the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture in Genshinken is so much more. This club and its members encompass all otaku hobbies – anime, manga, books, games, ect. Within you not only witness some thought provoking debates on otaku-ism, but some seriously odd individuals that enjoy them.
Gamers
Keita used to be your typical stereotypical gamer nerd, but then he underwent an image makeover. He is trying to keep his love of gaming low-key, but when the beautiful president of the Video Game Club tries to recruit him, he is left with little choice but to join. However, the video game club as well as it members are much more than what they seem.

Together with her motley crew of good-for-nothings, Usami tries to get them excited about art, but more often than not usually ends up getting distracted herself.
Yuyushiki
You know what is probably the last club that people would want to join? The Data Processing Club. However, for the three girls that end up joining, they focus less on club activities and more on the forming friendship between them. Never before has data processing seemed more interesting than in this gathering of adorable unique individuals.
Fastest Finger First
Of all the school clubs that have been covered, from the normal to the insane, Fastest Finger First is the first one to cover Quizbowl, or as the club is called in the series, the Quiz Study Group. This series follows Shiki as he is shanghaied into joining this club by the domineering president. Only here can his average nerdiness have the potential to dazzle the competitive quiz world.
Magic of Stella
