Your typical anime lady is, well, if not moe, at least cute in a very conventionally attractive way. It is typically anime girls that sell more than a few anime series, after all.
She is likely thin and, even if athletic, not exactly bulging with muscles. Not everyone tends to think muscles are particularly “cute,” but there are more than a few who think they are sexy as hell. That’s not even counting the growing number of female anime fans that enjoy strong female characters, but emotionally AND physically.
If you have an interest in women with great bulging muscle and distinct ab definition, there are a few examples to be found in anime.
Although there is no true gender equality in anime when it comes to huge muscle mass, alas. So your muscular anime women can be a task to find compared to the never ending parade of veiny lads.
Best Muscular Anime Women
Mikasa from Attack on Titan
Undoubtedly at this point the most famous muscle lady, Mikasa looks pretty unassuming and almost harmless with her uniform or other clothing on.
However, that makes it a treat when seeing her bare arms or bare midriff when she does show them off during a spare few moments of training.
You’re just smacked in the face when those abs come out ready to grate steel. Saving Eren is the best workout, no doubt. However, Mikasa does take her training very seriously, as you would hope from one of the finest and most effective soldiers in the military.
Michelle Davis from Terra Formars
If you like muscles and fighting, Terra Formars is a must for you. The first season of the anime even forwent any plot in order to just show off the tons of buff characters fighting buff cockroach people.
Anyway, even if Terra Formars isn’t exactly awash in female characters overall, one of the best examples for female muscle definition in any anime lies with Michelle. She is a strong leader in both personality and rock-hard abs.
Kale from Dragon Ball Super
Dragon Ball, for all its fighters, has never really had “muscular” females. There have been many scrappy female characters, but they were all created as slim as any anime woman.
However, Dragon Ball Super changed it all by allowing female Saiyans to go Super Saiyan, creating Kale that definitely looks like she never said no to kale or circuit training.
Sakura from Danganronpa
Danganronpa is well-known because it has colorful and often over-the-top character designs.
Sakura, being the top high school martial artist, is of course very well muscled. So much so, that it makes her traditional high school sailor outfit look so comically out of place. A bit like dressing up a bear, if you will.
Maki from Fire Force
Maki is on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to muscle mass, but it is always refreshing to get a anime muscle lady not used for comedy.
As a previous soldier, Maki gained a good bit of body definition. However, she is not quite as bulging as the other ladies on this list. What’s more, she is a bit self conscious about it since you can’t be super cute and super swol. At least, she thinks you can’t.
Bisky from Hunter x Hunter
Don’t be fooled by the cute moe facade of Biscuit that you first see. Her real form is as swol as the best of them.
She just keeps it hidden for the sake for being cute, although it doesn’t damper her strength too much.
Nikuma from Qwaser of Stigmata
Qwaser of Stigmata is an anime you watch if you are interested in things other than muscles on a woman. The boobies. It is a anime for those interested in the boobies.
As an ecchi anime, a muscle lady may not be what you expect, but then there is Nikuma. Called Hell’s Dairy Cow for her…Udders? And her muscles. And that stern face. She checks off one of many kinks present in Qwaser of Stigmata, I guess.
Sofia from Jormungand
One of the best things about Jormungand is that it doesn’t pretend people are just a stereotype. Everyone works in shades of gray and everyone has a certain ugliness to them as well as a few good qualities.
It also has one of its own muscle ladies, Sofia. It just wouldn’t be complete without her since it is a anime about tough mercenaries, and in that line of work, one would imagine, requires physical fitness to stay alive.
Matrona from Seven Deadly Sins
You might think that Diane has the largest muscles in Seven Deadly Sins, an anime that isn’t afraid of a little muscle mass on either gender, and you would be almost technically right.
However, while her giant’s blood does make her muscles large, she is actually pretty shapely.
A more traditional example of an anime muscle lady is Matrona who looks like she just stepped out the gym on everything day and is in a state of constant flex. Combine that with her also being a giant and you officially have the biggest muscles on any anime girl ever.
Ghislaine from Jobless Reincarnation
People take notice of Ghislaine initially because her shirt and bra are essentially just a strap, but her having an abundance of muscles around her ample chest certainly didn’t hurt either.
As an adventurer, all the muscles and scars shown off by her lack of clothing were earned in the field. It is where she honed her skill to the revered level of Sword Saint. Unfortunately, while skilled in battle, Ghislaine lacks a few finer points of learning that often made her pretty easy to scam.
Noi from Dorohedoro
Noi is the quintessential muscular anime women. She is larger than most men in the series in terms of height, and because she fights masked, most people don’t even realize they were fighting a woman.
Her muscles are big, but so too is her chest. What’s even better is that Noi’s character isn’t defined by her size. She is confident and carefree, and being too tall or too muscular to be cute never crosses her mind.
Mirko from My Hero Academia
My Hero Academia is filled with super heroes of every size, shape, and species. However, female superheroes in the seris are often a bit lacking in the muscle mass, even if the author does like female characters to be a bit meatier than moe.
Mirko, however, titillated die-hard fans of anime muscle ladies with her, well, muscles. Even if the fandom has a love affair with her thighs in particular, fitting for a rabbit-themed character, she has rock-hard curves in more places than just her legs.
Jolyne from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is an anime that has a long history with virile, wonderful, and just plain weird muscular men. However, it often had a rather tame and traditional approach to female characters.
After six parts of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, they finally let the author make a female main character of the Joestar lineage with Jolyne. Not disappointing fans of the Joestar family physique, she too has quite a bit of definition to her body, even if she is lacking in that masculine bulk.
Mizuki from One Punch Man
A goodly number of superheroes, female ones in particular, tend to be nice and slim with their powers steeped more in magic than psychical ability. However, Mizuki is the athletic superhero in every sense of the word.
As a previous track and field star, she transferred those skills in to being a pretty decently ranked hero in the One Punch Man universe. All her abilities are Track and Field-based and her body definitely sells it with its muscle.
Yuko from Keijo!
Like Qwaser of Stigmata, Keijo is a series people remember for the ecchi, not the characters.
In Keijo, the entire fictional sport is about beating people with your butt or your boobs. Ridiculous? Yes. Ecchi? For sure. Fun to watch? Oh, hell yes.
While most girls are more lewdly sexy than athletic, Yuko remains a combination of muscular and lewdly sexy. Her muscles are also distinctly translate to serious skill at the sport too.
Yukina from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
I remember when Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress first premiered and everyone went a little weak in the knees for Yukina.
As Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is suspiciously similar in plot to Attack on Titan, it seems only right that it have its own anime muscle lady to compliment Mikasa. However, while Yukina is less of a main character, she is also remembered for different muscle definition as well.
Mikasa is remembered for her rock-hard abs, Yukina will be remembered for her rock-hard shoulder and back muscles. Sure, they are not the “showpiece muscles” that abs are, but building strong ones are actually way more impressive.
Most Girls from How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?
As an educational anime about cute girls working out at a gym, you would go into it expecting muscle. However, while there are some over-the-top muscle parodies within, the girls are displayed in a more realistic, but still stacked way.
It is an anime meant to encourage people to go to the gym, so it needs to show muscles on both genders as cool as well as beautiful. It does good work on that front.
Do you know of any more muscle ladies that might please a very select group of anime fans? Let them know in the comments section below.
Yep, Machio in Dumbbells is quite enough, so the girls can be a bit more realistic 🙂 .
No Noi from Dorohedoro?
Stop writing trash and stop watching anime. It brain rotting garbage.
