Those who are day one Konosuba fans may think it is crazy that Konosuba needs a watch order guide. The Konosuba watch order for most fans was to watch season one, fall in love with it, watch every single scrap of Konosuba that you could find afterwards.
However, thanks to the series proving that Season 3 was indeed not a myth and the fact that the series sometimes follows a plot, the Konosuba anime has become a bit more complex for new fans to approach if they want to consume the story in the correct order.
Konosuba Watch Order
As it doesn’t employ any weird, arc-based series titles and uses numbered seasons like any sane anime should, the watch order for the Konosuba anime is actually really simple. However, some parts are more mandatory than others if you want to make sure you don’t miss any plot.
The full Konosuba watch order is as follows:
- KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World!
- KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! – God’s Blessing On This Wonderful Chokers (OVA) (Optional)
- KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Season 2
- KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! – God’s Blessing On This Wonderful Art (OVA) (Optional)
- KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! – Legend of Crimson (Movie) (Not Optional)
- KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World (Spin-Off) (Optional, but fun)
- KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Season 3
Why is the Konosuba Movie Required?
While usually movies are optional, or worse, recaps of the TV anime, the Legend of Crimson movie is a continuation of the anime adaptation of the Konosuba light novel story. So if you skip the movie, you will have missed content in between Konosuba Season 2 and Konosuba Season 3.
The movie explores the the Crimson Demons, the clan from which Megumin and Yunyun are from, so you get a whole lot more of the best girl in what is essentially just a feature-length Konosuba adventure.
What is The An Explosion on This Wonderful World Spin-Off About?
While shilly-shallying their way towards season 3, Konosuba creators succumbed to Megumin fever. First it was the Megumin-themed, but still very canon movie, then it was the anime adaptation of Konosuba’s Megumin spin-off series.
While not quite as fun as Konosuba proper, An Explosion on This Wonderful World follows Megumin honing her explosion magic a year before the first season of Konosuba would take place.
Do You Need to Watch The Konosuba OVAs?
The Konosuba OVAs are not canon, meaning they don’t adapt any content from the light novel or manga story.
The Konosuba OVAs are, however, very fun to watch. They really are just more shenanigans, and are an enjoyable watch if you can find them.
