Do you have idol fever? Well, then you are in the right place for it. Love Live is that happy little anime thing that carves out its place in the occasional anime season for people that just want to watch cute girls doing idol things. While Love Live seems like a show you can adjust to no matter where you start watching, it does have a plot that it follows. If you want to watch everything that is Love Live, and watch it correctly, you need to know where to start.

Do You Need to Watch the Music Videos?
Love Live is, if nothing else, a music anime. As any good idol anime does, it comes with animated music videos that you can hunt down and enjoy. The music videos don’t contain any plot points, so you can watch them whenever. You can binge them all now if you want. However, I will include a list of all applicable music videos within the watch order and during what season they technically happened, but again, you don’t actually need to watch them at all.
Do You Need to Watch The Main Series to Watch the Spin-Offs?
Love Live has gotten large enough that it is starting to spawn spin-offs. However, if you have an interest in the spin-offs and not so much the main series, you may be wondering if you need to watch the main series to understand them.
For the Nijiyon Animation spin-off, you really do want to watch the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club anime since Nijiyon Animation is just those characters doing cute 4-koma school life shenanigans instead of cute high school idol club shenanigans.
As for Yohane the Parhelion, you can actually watch and enjoy that Superstar spin-off without watching Superstar itself. However, it is one of those fan service sort of shows where a large part of the enjoyment is seeing the idols you came to love from Superstar in a fantasy setting.
Both spin-offs can be watch after, at minimum, watching the first season of the corresponding series.
