What About Movie 1 and Movie 2? Do I Need to Watch Those?
Made in Abyss Movie 1: Journey’s Dawn and Made in Abyss Movie 2: Wandering Twilight are movies that recap the first season of the anime. If you watched the first season of the anime, you definitely do not need to watch the first two movies.
You can, theoretically, just watch the movies instead of the first season. Though I wouldn’t recommend it. You can say the finer details aren’t important, but… Well, if you are enjoying it, they kind of are, right?
Can I Skip The Third Movie?
In order to get the complete story, you need to watch the third movie. In theory, you can not watch it and still enjoy the second season. You are essentially just skipping a whole pretty messed up layer of the Abyss and miss little details like how Rico gets her white whistle and how they got past Bondrewd whose domain guards the one door down.
